Never mix business with pleasure. Never bring politics into the bedroom. In a way I did both when I took Jackson Rutledge as a lover. I can't say I wasn't warned.
Two years later, he was back. Walking into a deal I'd worked hard to close. Under the tutelage of Lei Yeung, one of the sharpest businesswomen in New York, I had picked up a thing or two since Jax walked away. I wasn't the girl he once knew, but he hadn't changed. Unlike the last time we'd drifted into each other's lives, I knew exactly what I was dealing with...and how addictive his touch could be.
The inner circle of glamour, sex, and privilege was Jax's playground - but this time, I knew the rules of the game. In the cutthroat business world, one adage rules all: keep your enemies close and your ex-lovers closer...

Will do anything for books!
So this is 2 shorts in 1 which I appreciate!! Thank you for putting them together! I will almost never get a book under 7 hours unless it is really cheap and a part of a series. That said, you really can't complain about Sylvia Day! There is a difference in quality, style and ability when we are reading from her.
This story is short so there isn't a ton of depth, I would have read more from this couple but that said, I liked them. I thought Gia was a bit too obstinate, if you love him you love him, try it or don't but come one. The "climax" scene was a bit obvious not maybe the exact outcome but there was enough foreshadowing.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE a man who loves a woman and who pursues her.
I love a guy who knows what he wants and goes after it. It is easy to be mad a Jax in the beginning but once we know the whole story we love him and forgive him, at least I did, it took Gia longer.
There is some great hotness here, narrator was good as always. I love the characters, all the extended family and all that and I absolutely LOVE the ending! Thank you Sylvia Day for another good one.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
Good story..Two books in one! Slyvia Day often write the smexest male leads with baggage and a whole heaping smack of drama but if it works, it just works!
Credit well spent, loved the N.Y./Jersey accents!
Narration was pretty darn good too..a nice credit or sale
Hmm. Hard to answer. I liked the story but I could not take the narration. The NY accent was too heavy and did not make for easy listening. It was an aggravation. I ended foregoing the audio version and purchasing the eBook.
It was a good ending. I like the way it was wrapped up. Ms Day usually gets on my nerves when she leaves me hanging on her Renegade Angels books, so I am glad she did not tick me off by doing the same here.
Heck No! She sounds like a freaking Brooklyn Cheerleader while reading.
Nope. I think it ended fine.
I would not recommend this book to anyone.
The accents were over done and distracting.
I love Sylvia Day. I don't recognize her work I'm this book. I was really disappointed.
No...it's confusing when the narrator is slipping in and out of an accent....confusing and annoying
Gia...strong woman lead
See above....the accent .. If you are going to do the accent commit to it throughout the book...don't go in and out of it.
Hard to with the performance
I love Sylvia Day books! But this by far was the most annoying to listen to. The female reading it and the way she read it was quite annoying. I know many people from Jersey and New York that don't sound like this at all. The story was decent. But I wish I hadn't purchased these. Again, it was just the voice and I couldn't get passed it, it ruined the story for me.
I've read this author's book before, but this one didn't grab me like the others I've read and I think it had a lot to do with the narration. It was an ok listen I could not really get into it.
It was too fast, not enough background story of them too, not enough current story, would have loved more in sight into each other thoughts. Seems quickly written. Didn't love the narrator either couldn't get used to her.
I liked this book, but not near as much as the Crossfire series. I! will listen to this again and recommend to friends that want a steamy book to just pass the time.
The time of the reading sounded very bitter. I was expecting for the romance top have failed, not a happy ending.
There was no real engagement in the story, although there was potential.
"A book too long"
Rather over-rated in my view. There was really not a great deal to the story itself - strong willed beauty in restaurant trade with 'passions' involved in drawn out business negotiations involving her 'ex'. Listened to the first 60% or so then realised that actually I had a life so moved onto more entertaining listening. You know you are not enthralled when 5 minutes passes by and you are non the wiser.
Hot , heavy,sweet
Gia she strong women and is fit for him
She brings across each character how I thought they be
I like this story, and how you got to see how characters relationships come together and Break apart.
"I love Sylvia Day"
I always enjoy Sylvia Day books but this was the first audiobook I'd listened to. I liked it and I thought it was narrated well although hearing a woman try to do the voice of a sexy man didn't grab my imagination like reading it would. The book got me through an all night session of accounts which was great because I don't think I would have been able to put it down.
"Seamless story of a journey to love...."
This is probably one of my favourite! With strong characters and ultimately a powerful story.
Jackson is my favourite character. Whilst an alpha male who initially hate and want to keep hating you just can't help smiling when he starts talking or come into the presence of the protagonist!
I am no accent expert yet I think it was a stellar performance. I loved hearing all the different rich American accents, as they also play an instrumental role in the development of Gianna's character.
Defiantly, I was addicted going so far I was avoiding people so I could concentrate on the riveting story.
This is a perfect romance novel of an alpha male who also has other faucets to his character, just as all the characters are engineered and developed expertly. Gianna is a sassy young women, when hurt by a man bounces back, becoming strongly independent and taking the business by a storm. Her chemistry and attitude towards Jackson makes it a truly interesting read...
The author does well, in exposing the truth about power and what it does, to people within the high life spectrum. However, and most importantly, Jackson Rutledge is a legend!
