Hand knitting and crochet are my hobbies in retirement, listening to books makes the time and the stitches fly by!
I have read and listened to a great number of Amanda Quck's offerings, and this one is so different from the others that it was like a breath of fresh air. Not to say I don't enjoy all of her books, I do, but this one is so different! Yes, I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good listen.
A comparison does not come to mind, this book takes all of the cliché of romance novels, and turns them into great entertainment. So I guess the whole thing is that there is no comparison in my library!
I have just recently listened to Wicked Widow by Amanda Quick also done by Ms Rosenblat. She is a marvelous reader, and lends more dimension to the characters of the book. I am looking forward to getting more of her readings in the near future.
Yes! I have a terrible time putting the iPod down and getting about other things when I start a book, and this one was no exception. It was marvelous!
The wit in this book was wonderful. The dissertation of the old butler on the scream in the laboratory had me giggling at odd moments for the rest of the day!
It was too slow and almost predictable in many points. I would have liked to have a more complicated story line.
This is not the best Amanda Quick book I've purchased. There are many more that are more compelling and entertaining. It would take a great deal to measure up to Mistress, which is my favorite.
This book needs a less gruff voice. This narrator has an issue with breathing sounds which are distracting at best and irritating at worst.
There is quite a bit of backgound noise on this recording. I hear people talking, laughing, and coughing. I usually listen with headphones while traveling, so it is even more irritating.
No. And it's sad because it could have been.
This was a classic Amanda Quick novel. And i wanted to love the audio. The narrator was good, the story was good, and if they had given the guy coughing in the background for a good portion of the book at random times a cough drop it would have been a five star read for me.
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
As much as Amanda Quick's books are all similar, I still buy them and read them so they must have something that keeps me coming back. This book was not one of my favorites by this author but still good if you can get past the narrator. While Barbara Rosenblat isn't a bad narrator she does sound like an old smoker and doesn't fit the part of the main character. I have never been a big fan of her readings. Also the actual recording would have background noise such as someone coughing or ticking noise, but it is mild. Good for a sale if you like regency romances.
This book had such a similar premise to the author's other book, otherwise engaged, that I almost gave up on it after the first couple of chapters. But I pressed on, hoping that the story would be redeemed. It was not her best work. Unless you really like the genre, and will read anything of this. period,, I would forgo this book. I must also comment on the narrator whose voice I felt was a bit distracting and not as refined as I felt it should have been. I had the impression that the main character, Charlotte, was much older than her 20+ years.
The narration was so bad I couldnt get past chapter 4.
I love this book and was excited to see it on audible.
I adore stories and love to live in the tales I read!
I am a fan of this storyteller. I often revisit old friends.
I simply adore this narrator. Quite talented!
I can never say enough about Amanda Quick's novels! I love her writing!!!! I love romance and mystery. Quick merges the two themes together beautifully!!!!
Never read the print version.
When the confident scientist hopelessly bungles personal affairs.
She had consistent and distinct voices.
Sexy scientist and clever detective make an arrangement
