Publisher's summary

Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. His human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Brought back against his will, he became the sole defender of mankind.

Only it was never that simple. For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he never wants revealed - until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence.

Now his survival, and ours, hinges on hers, and old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both. War has never been more deadly...or more fun.

Love in vein: listen to another Dark-Hunter novel.

Is everybody out of their mind?

It makes me wonder if I am reading the same book as all the others who rave about it? I am forcing myself through it for the last 6 hours hoping the story would begin, but I am ready to quit! I consider myself as and educated and intelligent person and had never walked out of the movie or had never abandoned the book. It just makes me feel bad about myself that I can't stand the repetitive and boring nature of this book. Can anybody tell me if the storyline changes, and at which point, so I can just skip to that part!?
Someone had highly recommended this book to me - so here is a mental note "not to follow that person's recommendations"!

Kind of bummed that this isn’t the full book

It starts after he’s already an adult. Not from Apollymi cutting him out and sending him to the humans. Sad :(

Something's wrong with this Audible version

If I could, I would give it a - 3 rating

Compared to the "book" that I read. This audible version is seriously out of sequence and seems to be missing a major and important portion at the beginning. I couldn't listen to more than 30 seconds before stopping it, trying to find the beginning and then stopped listening altogether

Very disappointing!

OUTSTANDING-BUT BEWARE!

This was the first Kenyon book that I listened to and I was instantly hooked. The narration of the this book is outstanding and the scope of its story is absolutely engaging. I will offer a warning, however. This book is not for the faint of heart. There are intense, and explicit scenes of violence and sexuality.

Acheron

I really like the premise of the story - part interview with a vampire, part Highlander. Not brilliant or terribly original but interesting. The problem I had was the first 1/3 of the book was so repetitive. I get it! Acheron's life is horrible. Any writer worth their salt could have dealt with it in a 1/4 of the time. The other issue I have with the book is the author's inability to transport me to ancient Greece. All of her characters are weak until they hit modern times.

No no no

This book is awful, the narrator whiny and the plot underdeveloped and self-indulgent. I am a fan of the old Sherrilyn Kenyon but lately ... ugh. If you still like her stuff then this may be for you, but if you feel like her current works show none of her early promise then RUN don't walk away from this one.

Bleak and Repetitive

There are hours upon hours of degradation and pain outlined in this book. It wouldn't bother me so much but so much of it was repetitive that I stopped feeling empathy for Acheron and began feeling nothing but boredom. This is a disappointing book for fans of the series. I wish I'd skipped it.
