Publisher's summary

Mirren Kincaid remembers the vampire he used to be - and he’s not going back. As the Slayer, Mirren served the Vampire Tribunal as its most creative and ruthless executioner. Then he refused a kill order and eventually found himself the protector and second-in-command of the peaceful enclave of Penton, Alabama. As civil war threatens to break out in the vampire world over the scarcity of untainted human blood, the Tribunal wants its slayer back - and has sent a beautiful witch to retrieve him.

Descended from a powerful shaman, Glory Cummings is meant to restore Mirren to his bloodthirsty ways as the Tribunal’s assassin. But Glory doesn’t see a killer when she looks at Mirren; she sees a vampire haunted by his past. Though her mission is to turn him into a monster, she hopes her magic touch can heal the man she’s suddenly falling for. But the Tribunal has never looked kindly upon defiance.

Good book.. So-so narration..

Any additional comments?

Loved it just as much as I did the first one. Loved Mirren and Glory and it was nice visiting with Aiden, Krys, Will, Hannah, etc..
I'm going to read Will's book now and I do hope the series continues.

The narration? Amy McFadden does have lots of emotion and great inflections in her voice but she doesn't do mens voices worth a damn. Sometimes I wasn't sure if it was a male or female talking. If she just lowered her voice she would get nothing but 5 star reviews. She does do Will's story so I will suffer through it so I can see what happens next.

Good story, bad narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of Absolution to be better than the print version?

If they would have secured Angela Dawe for the narrator for the rest of the series then I would say no. However, Amy McFadden just doesn't do it, and actually made this hard to listen too.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the plot, it is well thought out. The build up of the characters over the entire series is good too.

How could the performance have been better?

Meh, kinda robotic except when she was trying character voices. She probably should have listened to Angela Dawes performance in book 1 and tried to continue the personalities.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, not this one. Narrator made it hard to listen to for long stretches.

Wrong Narrator For This Book

Folks the narrator can make a break the book, and Ms. McFadden is the wrong one for this book. I have heard heard her before and thought she was good. I like the story--think I will change my mind and give it four stars, but not the narrator. She rushes it. I know Angela Dawe reads fast, but this was way too fast. Not sure I will get the third book since Ms. McFadden is performing unless it's a darn good price. Don't you wonder sometimes how they decide who will perform a book and if that person has gotten good reviews, why would you change it?

Nice Sequel

Where does Absolution rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very good second installment of the series. It is way better than the first. I feel comfortable starting the third installment, Omega.

What did you like best about this story?

The interaction between Mirren and Glory. Entertaining banter.

Have you listened to any of Amy McFadden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first listen to Amy McFadden. She did an excellent job. I just couldn't get into Angela Dawes' narration in the first installment. I'm glad Amy is narrating the third installment, Omega.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Most definitely.

Great

loved it, was a Good new vampire series.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like the book enough to try but after a while I was enjoying the audible book and by the end of the book one here I was interested in Aden the main alpha Vampire and the lovely New Doctor he falls for named Chris. By the end I had to keep reading the next titles in tge series. I have been very happy after continuing to read the rest of the titles after and each perfectly follows the next regardless of what you may read of the description which can leave you wondering if it will be as good or better which it does get better and does keep the characters from each title in the next plus new ones and news surprises and characters that ypu never expected to be written plus different types of romantic relationships with the other characters and leaves you wanting more. The narrator was good no issues actually liked the narrator more and more by the last book after seeing how brilliant this woman can change her voice to sound like a man in so very different ways:)!

Just Wow!

I LOVED this one! This is definitely worth a credit and then some. There are so many reasons why I liked this book.
1. Great heroine. She was smart, tough and full of spunk.
2. Great hero. He was sexy, strong and very complex.
3. Good story and full of action.
4. Couldn't stop listening
5. Can't wait for the next book ( already pre- ordered)
This one was even better then the first book. 5 stars all around!!

Getting Better

I am glad I bought the second book The story got better and the characters more interesting. I think there is a lot of potential and I am interested to see what happens next in the series. This book does not, however, make you rave about it. It was enjoyable and has enough meat to it that you want to keep listening.

What a Series! I never expected this.

At first I wasn't sure at all about this series. I have to admit it was the second book that really got me. Now I'm hooked and there are no more books available. Come on Audible, get the next book in this series. Yes, the series is that good.
