Publisher's summary

Though Rylann Pierce tried to fight the sparks she felt for billionaire heir Kyle Rhodes the night they met, their sizzling chemistry was undeniable. But after being stood up on their first date, Rylann never expected to see him again. So when she finds herself face to face with Kyle in a courthouse nine years later, she's stunned. More troubling to the beautiful Assistant U.S. Attorney is that she's still wildly attracted to him.

Just released from prison, Kyle Rhodes isn't thrilled to be the star witness in a high-profile criminal case - but when Rylann comes knocking at his door, he finds she may be the one lawyer he can't say no to. Still as gorgeous and sharp-tongued as ever, she lays down the law: she doesn't mix business with pleasure. But Kyle won't give up on something he wants - and what he wants is the one woman he's never forgotten....

Loved this series!

I think this was my favorite one. Rather, Kyle has been my favorite character throughout. I loved all the books in this series. I hope there are more.

What a fun series!

Okay, I am loving this series. I think what I love most about this book, and the series as a whole, is that the author creates couples that are truly good matches. Rylann is a smart & successful U.S. Attorney who is deeply passionate about her job. Kyle ends up being much more than just a billionaire heir. By the time they finally get together he is a self-made man ready to embark on a new & exciting business venture.

Compared to the previous two books, this one had fewer action scenes. Instead James seems to focus more on the emotional/psychological. One interesting, and in my opinion good, difference was that Rylann & Kyle continually reminisced about their past. James uses these memories to explain how they first met, the reasons their other serious relationships didn't work out, and how they've changed from the people they were when they first met nine years ago.

Karen White continues to do a good job as narrator. I say "good" instead of "excellent" because she has a certain style of reading that some people may not enjoy...a kind of rhythmic pattern. But I think that once you get accustomed to her voice you won't notice this pattern as much.

A bit Anti-Climactic

I have thoroughly enjoyed the two previous books in this series, and am fond of Karen White's narration. But I found this one to be lacking a bit compared to the others. I suppose I liked the suspense of the other two and this one was more of just your standard romance novel feel.

Still very enjoyable though! I will continue with this series.

Bad boys for me

Would you listen to About that Night again? Why?

I would. This is a book that can speak to any number of people. Rylann and Kyle were willing to fight for love and each other even when it would be easier to be apart.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kyle. I don't know what it is but I think that if there was a real life Kyle Rhodes I would seek him out.

What does Karen White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The personality of each character as described by Julie James. She brought life and emotion to the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I managed to do so and then go to class the next day. It is a book worth sitting through. Putting it down would just be doing it a disservice.

Love this series

Where does About that Night rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Right up there with my favorite, The Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts

Any additional comments?

Can't wait until April for the fourth book in the series

About That Night

Loved it! Rylann and Kyle met in college but didn't see each other again until they were across the table in the court room when Kyle was in front of the judge for his release from his time as the "twitter terrorist" and Rylann was the new AUSA. Surprise! Nine years ago Kyle walked Rylann home from the bar and they were going to go out for a date when he didn't show up when his mother was killed in an accident. Now they meet again...and Rylann, the AUSA, needs Kyle the ex-con, the witness. This is what brings them together but when Rylann wants to keep it quiet this doesn't go over well. These two are so good together and Kyle really is a good guy, he just took it too far. It was fun watching him make good and really watching them make good together. This series is really, really good!

Brought the romance and heat

I thought I wasn’t going to like this book in the series, but it might turn out to be my favorite. It didn’t have the action, but I could feel the emotions of the characters. Also very hot intimate scenes.

Might could have been saved by a better narrated

I read the book years ago and enjoyed it. Julie james became an auto-buy. But when my drive time started cutting into my reading time I switched to audible. Unfortunately, there are only a handful of narrators who won’t make you want to drive into a ditch just to get them out of your ears! Karen White starts out all right but it doesn’t takes long before the sing-song cadence and inability to distinguish characters starts to grate. SERIOUSLY!
