Book #1 in The Devil DeVere Series – Library Journal Best E-book Romance 2012
With the devil in charge … there could be hell to pay
She needs a protector… Once seduced by whispered promises of a faithless lover, Phoebe Scott is determined to make a name on the Covent Garden stage, but after three years of bit parts, she realizes she'll never achieve her goals on her own merits. Acknowledging her success is dependent on a powerful patron, Phoebe is now resolved to find a protector to secure her future. With this goal in mind, she seeks out the best prospects at London's most notorious brothel.
He's avowed to celibacy… Sir Edward "Ned" Chambers has been lost and lonely since his wife’s death in childbirth. Burdened with blame, he has sworn to a life of celibacy, but after three years, he is inwardly edgy, irritable, and increasingly discontent. Perceiving the cause behind Ned’s unhappiness, as well as the obvious cure, his best friend and rake of the first order, "The Devil" DeVere, is hell-bent to return Ned to the land of the living. DeVere's machinations result in an outrageous wager that could lead Ned to a new love… or land them all in the Tower! All bets are off in in this racy Georgian romp! Without spoiling too much beyond what you could already glean from the summaries.......
Book 1 is driven by the fact that Ned is alone again since Annalee had died three years earlier.... It is Ned's love story.... NOT with Annalee but with phoebe! DeVere is the catalyst and is still his debauched self and single.... very!
Book 3 is DeVere's story... in which Ned and Annalee, not Phoebe!!, are the driving catalyst. This is too backwards for even me, a most tolerable reader/listener who forgives much.
Without spending more time picking it apart I have to say that within the first 20 minutes I discovered numerous other major time line errors and story conflicts.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL THIS?
It's ridiculous. And since this one is DeVere's story I can't even suggest you read them in another order.
Shame on you Ms. Vane, shouldn't you know your own books well enough to keep the characters in a logical storyline? You screwed up big-time here! Or did different authors write these books without consulting one another???
So.... shall I review this for what it is on its own? Since I've had my rant I guess I should go listen to the rest of it.

"A Wild Night's Bride" by Victoria Vane was a fun, erotic and sexy good read with a interesting good plot. I can not put it any other way...maybe adding some historical romance. Let me say first that this story is for the mature audience where I was even found to laughing out loud many times throughout listening to this novel. You will find there are three characters...Phoebe, Ned and DeVere that will keep you so well entertained as you are listening to the pages to see what was going on next and omg that sex scene between the two being so sizzling hot. Now, I know you are probably wondering just what all this is about...and all I can say is it was because of DeVere, that all of this happened...what happened? Well, you will have to pick up "A Wild Night's Bride" to find out just what this 'The Devil Devere' has done and with saying that I would definitely recommend this read because it was one excellent told story. The narrator did a good job telling this story.
The story was a quick funny romp. However the audio quality was terrible. A lot of background noise in parts which took away from the enjoyment of the story.
