Publisher's summary

Emma Gavin writes best-selling novels about werewolves, but that doesn't mean she believes in them - and she certainly doesn't think she'll meet one. But that's exactly what happens when her books catch the attention of a rich and powerful pack of Manhattan Weres who have kept their existence hidden for centuries. Alarmed by the accuracy of her novels, they're determined to find out if a renegade is acting as her informant.

Aidan Wallace, the pack leader's son and heir, knows he's the wolf for the job, but when he gets close to Emma, they are both surprised by an attraction too strong to deny. To surrender to it, Aidan will have to risk everything -i ncluding the security of the pack he's sworn to protect.

An ok read

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Probably not this book, I found it slow in the beginning and then rushed at the end.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

ending seemed a little rushed

Which character – as performed by Abby Craden – was your favorite?

hmmm not sure

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I kind of tuned out in parts

Any additional comments?

Although I wasn't captivated by this book I do love Vicki's "nerd" series so I thought I would give this one a try and I will probably try to read the others in this series just to see if they get better, but I think I will skip purchasing the audio and use my credits on other books.

Pretty Good

This book had great romance. The two main characters tried hard to not be with each other but their love could not be denied. BUT, the ending/ action was not very good. I was expecting so much more. The story had great potential but sadly went a little flat at the end. I wanted more from her. :( Still an okay book.

Not great.

I was disappointed in this book. I haven’t read any other titles from Vicki Lewis but I really expected more. I was mostly disappointed in the way the book ended. I felt like the book was missing a few chapters. I don’t think I will be listening to this book again.

Just OK.

Story line was weak, and the reader wasn't that strong either. If you're looking for a nice book to listen to on a lazy Sunday afternoon, this is it. Not very stressful or exciting, just OK. I do like a bit more suspense and erotic sex in my wolves, but you can't win them all. I'll try the next in the series to see if it gets any better.

Fun Lighthearted listen!

This was a great summertime read, lighthearted, and fun read. The narrator did a great job and there were some laugh out loud moments. If you are looking for a good paranormal book with a fun twist this is it!

Breezy

This is not a hardcore werewolf book in any way. You won't get a lot of tense "what will happen next?" moments out of this book. It's a book you can relax into. It's very light on drama. The "villein" is a spoiled brat who can barely be classified as an adult, and consequently lacks that "edge" that most bad guys in books have. The sex scenes are pretty tame compared to most paranormal romances I've read, but they are still fairly explicit. Just perhaps not quite as much detail.

I thought it was a sweetly told love story with no high drama or tension. The perfect read if you want to stay vaguely interested without getting too excited. Really, I read a lot of intense stuff, so it was like a sunny day on the beach rather than a thrilling day at the amusement park.

Somehow, I had gotten the impression that this book was going to be humorous. Perhaps it was the light-hearted cover art. It didn't, however, particularly tickle my funny bone, but in hindsight, I don't think it was meant to. That was just my impression, and that impression was erroneous.

Abby Craden did a spectacular job with the narration. I could not find one single thing wrong with her performance. In fact, I barely thought about the narration during the entire book, which is, in it's own way, the sign of a brilliant narrator.

So if you like paranormal romance and you're looking for something to take the edge off, but don't want to commit too much emotional energy into your next listen, this book would be the book for you.

Eh.....

Setting: contemporary Manhattan
Genre: Paranormal romance
Everything about this was average. Probably, if you're totally enamored with this kind of plot, it may be tolerable. Or not, depending on your previous experience. I wouldn't recommend it as an introduction to the genre, because it may turn you off before you find the really good paranormal stories, both light and keep-the-lights-on scary. I got it because there were no more Molly Harper books to bring out the laughs, and I wasn't in the mood for a spine-tingler. It may have been a buy-one-get-one, so I had incentive to try it. Whatever...
Worth the credit? Nah. If you want it, get it on sale.

Heroine was immature and naive, story was too.

In spite of my review title I will admit that there were some parts that had me snickering. I get the feeling this story may have been one of the first that Ms. Thompson wrote. It wasn't bad but it seemed very amateurish. The characters sounded and acted like immature teenagers with perfect world ideals. The narrator did not help with this since she made the heroine sound like she was 15 years old. There were a lot of holes in the plotline that needed to be addressed and left the readers with a lot of questions. If I could make any suggestion to the writer it would be to go back, read thru this story yourself again, then write it again, making sure to address some the minor issues preventing this from being a really great read. Also, if you are uncomfortable writing a sex scene, just leave it out. Forcing yourself to write it because you think that's what your readers want only results in an awkward, uncomfortable scene that detracts from the entertainment of the story. I have actually skimmed over a lot sex scenes in books in the past because I was enjoying the actual storyline more and didn't feel they were necessary. Ms. Thompson has my greatest admiration for having the guts to put her work out there to be admired or criticized by the general public. I hope if she sees this review she will take it as encouragement to keep doing it.
