Publisher's summary

When a devilish lord and a bluestocking set off on the road to ruin...time is not on their side.

Minerva Highwood, one of Spindle Cove's confirmed spinsters, needs to be in Scotland. Colin Sandhurst, Lord Payne, a rake of the first order, needs to be...anywhere but Spindle Cove. These unlikely partners have one week: to fake an elopement to convince family and friends they're in love to outrun armed robbers to survive their worst nightmares to travel four hundred miles without killing each other. All while sharing a very small carriage by day and an even smaller bed by night.

What they don't have time for is their growing attraction. Much less wild passion. And heaven forbid they spend precious hours baring their hearts and souls. Suddenly one week seems like exactly enough time to find a world of trouble. And maybe…just maybe…everlasting love.

Very enjoyable book!

This book was very entertaining! I loved the funny situations that this couple find themselves in. Both Minerva and Colin and wonderful characters. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Deliciously wicked

Full of adventure fun and just enough history. Great character development, enjoyed Colin and Minerva they played off of each other so well. Their week long adventure was enticing and even gave me the occasional chuckle, not to mention the delicious romantic scenes

A gem of this genre

It’s a simple story, really. But the dialogue is so fun. Which is my favorite part in a good romance, along with a story that makes sense and isn’t contrived.
The personal growth of both hero and heroine, as individuals and as a couple. is logical and endearing and quite moving at times. There are motifs through the book that are perfect and well placed. I had avoided this one for some reason. The introverted bluestocking thing sometimes is a put-off for me, but it’s also well-done, not overly done at all, and makes sense. There’s a lot of surprisingly good word craft and creativity that adds real color and unique personalities to the main characters.
Yet the book is light and not heavy. I recommend highly.

Creative writing, delightful characters

Carolyn Morris did an outstanding job in narrating this book....this series. She brought Tessa Dare's delightful characters to life...made them real. She added humor and added perfect inflection. This book is as good as it gets in a historical romance. Congratulations to Tessa & Carolyn....another winner.

Witty & steamy

This book was filled with wit, sensual scenes, and laughter. This is one of the best books I read and I've read countless....I cannot wait to read the rest!!

Sweet and funny and unpredictable

Hilarious and heartwarming tale about a tortured rake and a repressed geologist. Genuinely funny with character development that makes the hero and heroine endearing. I usually only listen to romance novels once but I predict that this is going to become an old favorite that I listen to again and again.

A perfect balance

This book was a perfect balance of story and smut. I got lost in this book and loved every second of it! I love how strong the heroine is, and I think the understanding the characters have for each other is so sweet! I wish I could read more of their story because I was invested! I am striving to find another like it, but nothing amounts to how good this book was.

Super entertaining

From the dedication, that I always claimed to be addressed directly to me, to the sweet fairy tale ending, this book is an entertaining romp of a read. The humor, the wit, the incredible characters and their adventures — they all contributed to making this one of my Top 5 favorite Tessa Dare books.

Loved it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was very amusing at times so funny I found myself laughing out loud quite often. I really loved the fact that she was like an ugly duckling who blossomed into a swan and got the handsome prince. Very easy listening with a terrific narrator I highly recommend
