    "What a lovely story!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I highly recommend this book to those who have loved the first three books in the Virgin River series. Whilst they are woven into the story, this book digresses from the main characters introduced across the first books in the series and focuses on the trials and growing relationship of Ian and Marcie. The story is beautifully and realistically staged and as always, Therese Plummer's narration is magnificent.

What other book might you compare A Virgin River Christmas to and why?

This book compares favorably to all the other books in the Virgin River series.

Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Therese Plummer makes you believe in the characters she portrays. My father, whom I introduced to the series, believed the characters were in fact voiced by different actors. Therese is, by far, the best voice actor I have heard and this performance is at least equal to her best.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

All Virgin River books make me laugh at various points throughout the stories, and this book is no different. The comments and reactions of various characters are both believable and elicit emotion from the listener.

    Any additional comments?

Fabulous. Addictive 5 star listen which takes me from my own hectic and sometimes troubling life to a place where characters know how to treat each other with respect, love and understanding. Highly recommended.

    "Enjoyable"

I have enjoyed every book in the series. For me, each story took my interest from the beginning and kept it until the end. It's nice to come home after work and look forward to plugging in the iPod and escaping to Virgin River.

    "Chicken soup for my ears..."

Being a girl from the Caribbean I found this book fascinating! Why? The descriptions of the rugged lifestyle of the mountains which was new for me. Living with no electricity nor running water, having to walk outside the house through several feet of snow to go to the outhouse (bathroom?) and then having to face wild animals or freeze to death. I though that was really interesting and made me appreciate the 80 degree temperature I have all year round.

The romance is just what you come to expect from Robyn Carr, amazing, perfect, wonderful. Marcie is a young widow that goes to Virgin River looking for Ian Buchanan. Ian and her husband were in the Army together and Ian saved her husband in Fallujah. Marcie's husband was severely injured and never recovered from them but Marcie is very grateful that she got three more years to see her husband and to say goodbye. Ian apparently suffered some serious post traumatic stress and went to live alone in the mountains.

Marcie just wanted to say Thank You to Ian and give him some baseball cards that her husband left. And that visit turned into a journey for both main characters that turned into a beautiful love story. This book can be read as a stand alone book but try to listen to the series in order because it is definitely worth it. Right now I'm on book 10 of this series and let me tell you that later on you will listen to much more about Marcie and Ian's life together.

Narration: PERFECT. Therese Plummer is the best narrator EVER. The combination of a Robyn Carr story with narration by Therese Plummer is like Chicken Soup for my ears, my mind and my heart. She even sings (Ian sings) at the end of the book and it's a very powerful scene. The first one that has actually made me cry in the whole series. If you are reading this review, then you must get it.

I am a 43 year old mother of 4, I have a great husband and I am a nurse. I love to spend time with my family and ride atv's. Romance and humerous books are my favorite and I am currently listening to a lot of amish romance books.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would take out all the profanity against God.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would take out all the profanity against God.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes - plus had a good singing voice.

Was A Virgin River Christmas worth the listening time?

Yes, but I cringed every time the author damned God.

    Any additional comments?

I wonder why the author used profanity against God but celebrated the birth of His Son?

Loved it, this continuation of Virgin River didn't let me down! It's as if I know all the people in the small mountain town and love how all the books intermingle with each other. Good Read!

Retired CFO, Army wife, Mom of five, Grandma of six, two sons who served in combat, love to read books that reflect my values and faith, love mysteries, historical, military stories, and books that don't waste my time . . . if it doesn't have an ending that was worth the wait, I'm not a happy camper.

    Story
"Iraqi War Veteran in the Woods Finds Peace"

I've listened to one other Virgin River book . . . and this one is WAY better . . . for many reasons, but the top one being it is not just about sex . . . it does go there, but it is not the main topic . . . the WONDERFUL main story is about the widow of an Iraqi war veteran who is searching for her husband's best friend (who saved her husband's life) and who is now "off the grid" . . . nowhere to be found . . . Marcie had gotten to know Ian through the many letters that her husband had written while deployed, and then she had begun writing Ian herself to let him know how Bobby (her husband) was in the hospital . . . then the letters stopped . . . her family thinks she's crazy, and she's just about broke . . . but she's driven to keep looking for Ian . . . and if you've never lost someone very close to you, loved a soldier or seen the effects of PTSD, you may not be able to comprehend how strong that drive can be . . . I couldn't stop listening . . . I'm the mom of two soldiers . . . and the wife of a retired soldier . . . Oh, my, I wanted to run into those woods and wrap my arms around that bushy haired recluse and shake the stuffings out of him . . . and beat the stuffings out of his daddy . . . who didn't have the sense God gave a goose . . . to not love that boy . . . Marcie was the balm to his soul . . . no pushing, no demands . . . just BEING . . . great story of healing . . . only one note, I wish they had not taken the Lord's name in vain . . .
