Publisher's summary

That hot guy tied to Lissianna Argeneau's bed? He's not dessert - he's the main course! Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this sexy guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate.

But there's another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sight of blood . . . an especially annoying quirk for a vampire. Of course it doesn't hurt that this man has a delicious-looking neck. What kind of cold-blooded vampire woman could resist a bite of that?

Dr. Gregory Hewitt recovers from the shock of waking up in a stranger's bedroom pretty quickly - once he sees a gorgeous woman about to treat him to a wild night of passion. But is it possible for the good doctor to find true love with a vampire vixen, or will he be just a good meal? That's a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into . . . if he can just get Lissianna to bite.

What a fun story!

Would you listen to A Quick Bite again? Why?

I love Lynsay Sands Argeneau series. The characters are fun and so very entertaining and the stories are captivating and keep you coming back for more.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked Greg's reaction to Lissiana's problem. The interaction of the family and how caring and kind they all are.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when the cousins came up to talk to Greg while he was tied to the bed in Lissiana's room. Their reactions to Greg, their caring way for Lissiana was wonderful.

It definitely made me laugh. The characters are so much fun they make you want to know more and more about them.

Conflicting thoughts about this one.

One thought that is not conflicting in my mind is that the narrator is absolutely horrible. She is all breathy and high pitched. She totally killed this book. So that is why I am on the fence. I think there was a lot of potential for this book but am not sure if I was just too critical due to the narrator or my expectations. I have never ready Lindsay Sands before but heard lots of positive talk about her books so thought I would give it a go. I think it was a really unique idea to have a fainting vampire. I do think that the humour in the story was lost in translation by the narrator. I also agree with other reviewers that the love at first site was a bit too fast and over the top. It is hard to fully buy in. However, I think that there is room for positive improvement so am willing to give the next book a try before I cast judgement on the series. Overall it was just ok for me. I have certainly read better.

Bad Narration

I thought I'd give this a go, but I couldn't get past the narrator. It was like listening to Amazon's Alexa trying to be sexy. A robot voice doing sexy isn't sexy... its disturbing. Wish I could tell you about the book itself, but I honestly couldn't get past the first chapter of deep breathing robot voice.

Story was great, but the performance was HORRID

The narrarator for this was beyond annoying. The breathy talking was irritating and distracting. While the story was great, I really hope to never have to listen to this narrarator again.

The Narration wasn't all that bad

I enjoyed this story and the narration wasn't as bad as I expected from all the reviews. there were parts where I laughed out loud and the vampire origin story was believable. The vampire family was loveable and kind and pretty hilarious. it's a HEA, no cliffhanger, medium spicy!

Enjoying the series

The story concept is interesting, strong characters, good plot. I was less impressed with the narration of this one. Technical issues, such as elongated pauses combined with complete silence differing from the normal background, plus a more monotone reading in general, bothered me. The narrator's voices differed enough and were well acted enough to keep me engaged, however. The story was fun, with some good humor. I would have preferred less "pretend" drama and "deus ex machina" but, overall, pretty good. Perhaps I was spoiled by reading later novels in this series. On its own this story is good, but it is delightful to note how the author keeps improving with each book.

no to narrator

nice story but narrator detracted from the experience...I regret already buying the second in the series (only because of narrator)

Good series ** terrible narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of A Quick Bite to be better than the print version?

I enjoy audiobooks. I enjoy the freedom of being able to work out or do chores while getting in a good read. I enjoy the acting involved with a good narrator. This one actually takes away from the story.

Would you be willing to try another one of Victoria McGee’s performances?

Only if it is the only way to get the audio version of a story, but mostly, I would rather read it myself. I do not need to make it extra breathy to help the author tell a story.

Any additional comments?

Please Ms McGee take some acting lessons, or listen to other narrators. Susan Ericksen is a huge reason why listen to the JD Robb series.
