Publisher's summary

A Man to Call My Own introduces us to a charismatic pair of twins, Amanda and Marian Laton, who, after the sudden death of their father, are sent to live with their aunt on a sprawling Texas ranch.

As the twin sisters - one of whom is nasty, the other nice - both find themselves pursuing Chad Kinkaid, the cowboy son of a neighboring ranching family, Lindsey skillfully charts the intoxicating course of first love - and all of love's attendant twists and turns - which ends in one of the Laton twins winning the heart of a man she can call her own.

Critic reviews

"Twists and turns galore and a Wild West setting make for a delightful romp by veteran romance writer Lindsey." ( Booklist)
"Laural Merlington depicts city-bred twins Amanda and Marion with style and wit in this story of loss and first love....Merlington's Texas drawl, depicting cowboy Chad Kincaid, is outstanding." ( AudioFile)

Turbulent and Sexy

I've always loved Johanna Lyndsey's books. A Man to Call My Own holds a special place in my heart because it was the first novel I read by her. I've been hooked ever since. if you like a love that plays hard to get, you'll love this book. The narrator is awesome and perfectly captures the western feel and various characters.

A book to call my own....

Where does A Man to Call My Own rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Pretty high. I have read and reread this book many times. I have also listened to the audio many times as well. I love a book that lets me do that.

What did you like best about this story?
sadness, love, misunderstanding, humor........................

Which character – as performed by Laural Merlington – was your favorite?
The twins equally. They were two different people sure but at the same time they were different aspects of the same body.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Beauty is skin deep but sometimes the mirror has two faces....

So Disappointed

I was seriously disappointed with the story. It was exhausting to listen to and pure ridiculous at the end.

You can ignore entire chapters.

Seriously. Skip all the blah blah blah and get to the good stuff. You will weep if you don't.

country love

the story starts out sad and slow but has some funny moments and also some really good heated moments. the lady voicing the characters is really good. Johanna Lindsey is one of my favorite authors. I love how she brings her character to life.

A man to call my own

Liked the book but naration quit working after first chapter. I tried to find a way to fix the issue but naration just would not work. I couldn't even find a way to get my money back! Will not purchase narration again! I gave three stars for the book alone, narration gets a zero.

A chore !

I did not like the loooong stretch of Mariam and Chad to figure out who he slept with .... The narrator was a disappointment. Slow .. No emotion .. Impersonating the the Cowboys was just sad . The women should of been more feminine . I would not recommend this audio book to my friends ! Slow and boring 😳
