Publisher's summary

Enter the privileged world of English aristocrats, and experience the passion, intrigue, and romantic pleasures of the incomparable Malorys - a family of dashing rogues, rakehell adventurers, and spirited ladies. Now Jeremy, the son of gentleman pirate James Malory, falls in love....

When Danny, a young woman who grew up on the streets of London with no memory of her real family, is banished from her gang because she helped handsome rakehell Jeremy Malory steal back the jewels his friend lost in a card game, Danny demands that Jeremy give her a job. She is determined to become respectable in order to fulfill her dream of marrying and starting a family. Intrigued by her beauty and spunk, Jeremy hires Danny as his upstairs maid, although he wants her as his mistress.

Under the tutelage of Jeremy and his cousin Regina, Danny blossoms into a lady. Although she is drawn to Jeremy by passionate feelings she has never experienced before, she refuses to be anything more than a servant to him, because she knows he is not the marrying kind.

When Danny undergoes a Cinderella-like transformation and poses as Jeremy's new love in an attempt to help him avert a scandal, a few highly placed members of the town remark on how familiar Danny looks. Now tongues are wagging, raising the question of her true identity, which threatens not only Danny's chances of capturing Jeremy's heart but her very life.

The saga continues: listen to more romatic tales of the Malory family.

Critic reviews

"A terrific tale about a wickedly seductive hero and a wonderfully unconventional heroine....this fairy-tale-like love story [has] a dash of danger in a successful bid to please readers who like witty and sinfully sensual Regency romances." ( Booklist0
"Laural Merlington's saucy rendition of Danny's Cockney accent meshes cleverly with her portrayal of Jeremy's deep, sensual voice. Her expert pacing transforms this novel into an all-encompassing listening experience." ( AudioFile)

A MUST BUY!! Thank you Johanna and Laural!

I absolutely LOVED this audio book! Was quite discouraged from listening to audio books after my first try but this book has redeemed my opinion! Laural Merlington was fabulous reading and Johanna Lindsey has always been a favorite author of mine! She carried the characters and her voice brought to life my imagination! I found myself laughing and smiling while listening to this one. I originally bought this book to listen to while I drive my 1-hr trip to work but couldn't stop! Ever chance I had, I turned this book on and have no idea what the heck I'll listen to tomorrow!! I'll definitely buy others by this author as well as by this narrator! Thank you Johanna and Laural!

Just .. meh

the characters were a bit superficial and one-dimensional. they really had no depth of character. But it was still an enjoyable finish to the series.

Very enjoyable book to listen to!

I was very pleased with the purchase of this book. I looked at this book description many times, hesitant to purchase, but was not disappointed at all. It was a good story line and the narrator did a great job bringing it to life. Many times I find myself wanting to fast forward with books, to get to better parts, but never did that at all with A Loving Scoundrel.

Can’t get enough of the Mallory series!

Another great read from Johanna and her Mallory series. Story/plot was interesting from the very beginning, and kept you interested throughout the book. The voices of each character were well done too.

My favorite Malory book

This was my favorite of all the Malory-Anderson books and I've read them all. I love Jermey despite his early upbringing he's still such a fun loving person. He and Danny together is hilarious. I still enjoy reading more about James and Anthony too. The two of them together is just too much. I would have given the narrator a 5 star review except for her male voice, that needs work but other than that she did a good job with her performance.

Loved the book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the Pygmalion resemblance.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Laural Merlington?

Anyone else who can pronounce Regina. I cringed EVERY time she mispronounced it, it was a distraction from the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.
