Publisher's summary

Jordan Rhodes is invited to all of Chicago's best parties, but there's only one the FBI wants to crash. To get her brother out of jail, she agrees to take Agent McCall as her date. But when the mission gets botched, requiring their "relationship" to continue, it starts to feel less like an investigation-and a lot like something else.

Very enjoyable story.

If you could sum up A Lot Like Love in three words, what would they be?

Good character development.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator is great for female voices, but she's quite bad at male voices. She makes them all sound like a pompous John Wayne, and initially I had to focus on enjoyment of the story to get through it. And remember that I had purchased the series, so it's likely that I'll be just as annoyed w/ the remaining two books.

Great series.

Julie James and Karen White deliver the perfect one-two punch. Romantic comedy at it’s best. I love intelligent and fast paced banter.

Don't miss this one!!!! EXCELLENT!

I preferred this to the first book in the series. I adored this one. Though I am a little over the wine lover background...

Funny and sexy! Karen White is fantastic! I love the Julie James/Karen White combo!!

Another good book Julie

Would you listen to A Lot Like Love again? Why?

Yes I would. Unlike the first book this one takes you primarily from the male's perspective. It is a different take on love. When it comes to these two communication seems to be key but neither one seems to know how to do it well.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Lot Like Love?

When Nick sits Jordan down in the back of the cop car and tells her that she screwed up his live and that he is in love with her. Probably one of the most heartfelt moments in the entire book.

Which character – as performed by Karen White – was your favorite?

Jordan's brother Kyle. To me he seems like the type of guy a girl would be luck to get.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Nick brought Kyle clothes after he got out of jail. He may be interested in Jordan but he still remembered her brother and the things he may need.

Much Better Installment

Skipping the first book would not have hurt this story - much. I really enjoyed this book much more. The only thing that bothered me was Nick's too strong and poorly done Brooklyn accent. Narrator's fault. Though she did do male/female voice differences.

Again there were several laugh out loud moments. Another light listen, but a much better/believable story.

I like the premise

A Lot Like Love has a great premise. FBI enlists the help of a billionaires daughter to cause a diversion so the FBI can bug a local business owner believed to be laundering money. In return, they will get her brother out of prison, where he is serving a sentence for hacking into Twitter.

I liked the story and the characters were well drawn, but the narrator did not do justice to the male lead.

I think I would recommend reading this as opposed to listening or, as I did, get the whisper-sync version so you can give the characters the voices you like.

Another Winner!

Where does A Lot Like Love rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

My audiobook listening preferences are pretty diverse. So, to make this easier for myself I'll rank it among all of the romance novels I've ever listened to and it's in the top 15.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Lot Like Love?

One of the moments that I enjoyed reading was when Nick showed up at Morgans wine shop and saw her having a drink with another guy. It was the moment that Nick had to acknowledge his true feelings for Morgan.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I didn't have an "extreme" reaction, but just like the first book in this series, About That Night, the characters are very likeable and they all have a great sense of humor. I especially love books that make me laugh out loud or smile or have some other outward reaction. This book did exactly that.

Sweet but drawn out

The chemistry was hit or miss, but the realization of love was realistic. Too much background and narrative that wasn't about the characters' relations. Would've appreciated more passion faster in the story. Loved the narrator!
