Publisher's summary

Jordan Rhodes is invited to all of Chicago's best parties, but there's only one the FBI wants to crash. To get her brother out of jail, she agrees to take Agent McCall as her date. But when the mission gets botched, requiring their "relationship" to continue, it starts to feel less like an investigation-and a lot like something else.

Good story. Fun dialogue.

I like the Julie James books. I recently listened to several of them that were narrated by Karen White. She was very good with other books, but I had a problem with her narration of this one. She made Nick sound like he was constipated. She used a Brooklyn accent for him, but it was not good. He did not sound sensual or sexy. She did excellent voices for men in other books, but not this one.

Typical romance.

Good although not as good as the first book, the danger from the first book was missing. As a romance though it is a good story and I liked the characters even if the whole wine thing was a little much for me. I was kinda hoping we would see more of Nick's mother. I think the author could have had a lot of humorous moments with her. Although this book is part of a series you can easily read it as a stand alone book. I do get tired of books were everybody has money, this book is no exception although not as obnoxious as others I have read. Narrator does mostly a good job, but she doesn't always do the accents for the characters.

Cute

Cute and sweet. Still liking the series so far. Easy to listen to as an audiobook. I like the little bit of mystery in the series as well as the meet/cutes the writer does.

Still wish there was more than one narrator. It's just a preference not anything against the narrator. I just thing the audio would be more enjoyable with a male voice speaking for the male character since its multiple POV's in the story.

Fun Series!

Would you listen to A Lot Like Love again? Why?

Yes, I would. I really enjoyed the series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nick, of course. Julie James makes her male characters desirable.

Which character – as performed by Karen White – was your favorite?

I didn't have favorite character in particular that Karen performed. She performed all characters perfectly. Karen White really brought the book to life, Loved her!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I love when the lead characters first meet.

Any additional comments?

Great, fun series!

Already in love with the series.

I know this was only the second book in the series, but I think I'm in love. The stories have sucked me in from the start. I enjoyed how Julie James incorporates humor. In this book, it was typically sarcastic humor, of which I'm a big fan. The book moved at a steady to fast-ish pace, keeping me engaged. It's always difficult in books when there's a part that is just suddenly uneventfully slow to stay interested. I adored the characters. I had read the book summary prior to reading, so when I started and it was Huxley doing the undercover assignment, I was a bit confused. I wondered how on earth it would end up being Nick instead. Would Jordan warm up to Nick and request him instead? Would Nick just kind of take over the investigation due to his dominant nature? Would Huxley decide that Nick was better suited for the actual undercover part of the investigation? Overall, a fantastic book and series alike. I look forward to continuing with About That Night.

The narrator of this Audible book had a really nice tone and I thought her inflection and portrayal of emotion was great. Unfortunately, she wasn't always consistent and seemed to have a hard time switching between character voices at times, mostly with the men. There's a critical phone call between Nick and Davis toward the end of the book that I had no clue who was speaking at which time and it really subtracted from the narration. That wasn't the first time in the book, by any means, but it's the one that really struck me. It's hard to fully enjoy the story when you're too busy trying to figure out who said what. She wasn't entirely consistent in Nick's voice either. He is from the Bronx. There are times I got a touch of an accent, times the accent was strong, and times there seemed like no accent at all. I preferred the times where the accent was strong because I could more easily distinguish his voice from other males' in a conversation. Considering his Bronx/Italian roots were mentioned many times during the book, it seems appropriate that he have an accent. It just really adds to Nick as a character. All in all, the narration wasn't phenomenal and that took away from the book.

I really liked the first and last book!

This middle book, although entertaining, did not hook me like Book One and Three. Yes, I listened to them out of order and surprisingly, had no problem with understanding and putting the stories together. This book lagged a little for me because it did take a lot of time talking about wine and didn't have as much action. With that said, Julie James is an excellent writer and Karen White is the perfect narrator for her books. Although I'm not giving this book 5 stars the questions is would I download the next book in this series? Absolutely!

Great new series!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I will recommend this book and others by Julie James. She writes sound stories with a smart funny hand.

Have you listened to any of Karen White’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

All Karen White 's performances are just ok. She seems to do better if I enjoy the book, oddly enough.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Nick realizes he loves Jordan, or when he calls his mother about her...actually there are too many and all different points pop in my head. So pretty much the whole book.

Any additional comments?

This is the second book in the series and I listened to this one first and immediately purchased the first one. I cannot wait to buy the third, even though the reviews are iffy I'm still going to purchase.
