After 10 long years of education and residency, Dr. Emmy MacKenzie decides it's time for a much-deserved vacation. But when she's traveling the British Isles, a twist of fate at the gates of the ancient castle of Duart hurls Emmy more than a hundred years into the past and into the arms of a magnificent Highlander who thinks she is his long-lost wife, Heather MacLean.
The 10 years since his new bride abandoned him on his wedding day have brought Connor MacLean, earl of Strathclyde, nothing but misery and bitterness, but that is nothing compared to the anger he feels when she shows up on the 10th anniversary of that day. Determined to punish her for the humiliations she dealt him, he is shocked when his wife insists that she is not his wife at all. Though he tries to cling to his anger, Connor cannot deny the attraction he feels for his mysterious wife, and soon he finds himself wanting nothing more than to take her in his arms and make her his.
When the truth of Heather MacLean's disappearance comes to light, more than just Connor's life could be destroyed. Choices will have to be made. Forgiveness begged. Second chances taken not just for the people of Duart but for Emmy herself.

This is a fun, lighthearted time travel romance. I'm sure there are some that will say that the plot is reminiscent of "Outlander" but this one is more quirky and playful.
Dr. Emmy MacKenzie, the herioine, is a strong, independent woman who is thrown back into the time of Connor MacLean, earl of Strathclyde who is a man seeking revenge. Its quite entertaining to witness the two of them trying to communicate and understand the slang of different centuries. Their differences draw them together and apart while they learn the challenges of taking risks for love and second chances.
This is a good story for those who like time travel romance escapes.
I love books! Audiobooks take stories to the next level. I'm obsessed with Audible and will try to rate all of my books. Happy Listening! ;)
I've actually tried two previous time travel romances and weren't able to finish either one. This time I got this title because of the narrator Kirsten Potter. She is an absolutely amazing narrator because she makes distinct voices for each character and she adds so much emotion to the stories that usually I end up crying when listening to her (and I'm not a crier).
The story itself is fun a la "Kate and Leopold". The time travel aspect was worked in a believable and creative way and the romance was intense, sweet, sexy and complex. The ending was a lot better than what I was expecting. It had some unexpected twists that made the story even better.
If you enjoy historical romances, time travel stories and amazing happily ever after endings then don't read any more reviews and get this book immediately!!! You'll love every second.
I liked the easy read and the twists. There was a lot of unexpected happening. The narrative was excellent
I'm a lover of books, both read and audible.
Dr. Emmy Mackenzie is sent back in time by a mischievous elderly man (we never find out too much about him) when she makes the mistake of saying that life 100 years ago were simpler times. She is in 2010 one minute and with a blink of the eye she is in 1895. She meets a gorgeous highlander, Connor, who claims she is his wife that runaway on their wedding night 10 years ago to the date. Connor is angry; his wife decides now after ten years to come back to him and claims she doesn’t know him and worst of all, that she isn’t his wife. The audacity of her but Connor can’t resists the feeling and lust that keeps growing inside of him the more he argues with his long lost wife. Soon secret are discovered, lies are reveled and decisions will have to be made, for better or worse.
I have always loved a good Highlander Romance novel but when you combine that love with some fantasy (if only a little bit) and it’s fairly well written, than my friend, you me sold. The last time I tried to read a time travel novel, my brain went to mush because I keep thinking about the shoulda, woulda but with this novel, I was able to turn that part off and just enjoy the pure romance, humor, and joy behind this book. The writing is done in such a manner that the characters and scenery are extremely vivid in the minds of the reader. It does make the book that much more enjoyable to read.
As always, Kristen Potter does a fantastic job with the voices. She has a perfect voice to do Scottish accents. I have listen to her do other novels and she is always fabulous but I like her the best when she does the Highlander novels.
IMO(in my opinion), pick up the book and read. It does contain a little time travel but it's not enough for me to categorize this book as anything other than a good romance novel.
I'm a huge fan of Scottish romances but not usually the time traveling ones. But this time travel starts off so jarring in the time and place clash I wasn't sure but the story that unfolds kept me listening all day. Well worth listening to. Very entertaining.
I have always love historical time travel romances. This book, "A Laird for All Time" Book 1 is one of the best!. I have already purchased Book 2 and I am looking foward to starting that one! This was the first Angelina Fortin book I have read and I am so glad that I did! Kirsten Potter narrated this book beautifully. I would highly recommend this book.
I am retired & when not sleeping am reading or listening to a book. I multi task so when I am on the computer I always listen to a book.
Didn't read the print version but I know I enjoyed the audio book extremely well. I love Highlander books, love romance books and have enjoyed time travel books and this one had all three. The story was fast paced and the time just flew by, before I knew it, it was over. Great book!!
I love my Highlanders and even though Emmy was a fantastic heroine, I loved Conner. I loved how he had to struggle with realizing his love for Emmy and eventually came to believe that she was from the future. I loved the beautiful life they had and how he really took to the as yet to be invented items and future situations. He was like a kid with a new toy.
I may have listened to Kirsten before because her voice sounded familiar. She did a fantastic job with this story and will look for more books by her in my genre.
I will always remember Dorie's? confession during childbirth and how mad everyone was and how they figured it all out, even going to the solicitor. How Conner's pride was so hurt and how they all got through it and forgave each other.
