Publisher's summary

A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her....

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy....

Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents - until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae - and their notorious dark desires - ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

An all-consuming desire....

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

Surprising

I’m usually quite reluctant to buy romance audibooks that feature a male narrator as they have a tendency to either read in a rush, obviously hoping to be done with it, or read in a monotone, which can ruin an otherwise fun story. Imagine my surprise and delight when Mr. Petkoff not only read at an almost indulgent pace but made the effort to give voice to each character, turning what would have otherwise been an enjoyable listen into a delightful one. He seemed to have fun with the story, which in and of itself was intriguing, entertaining, and well executed, though I admit there were times when I found myself not so much disliking but not fully enjoying Emmaline’s character. She was a bit too timid for my tastes but that hardly detracted from the overall experience. On the whole, however, I thoroughly enjoyed this and am looking forward to listening to the next book by the author and/or the next narration by Mr. Petkoff.

Loved it start to finish.

What made the experience of listening to A Hunger Like No Other the most enjoyable?

The way the narrator did the Scottish Brogue for the main character.

What other book might you compare A Hunger Like No Other to and why?

None I have read so far.

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

I love the way he voiced Lochland. His Scottish brogue was perfect.

I loved the way they presented Lochland and Emma. Their love story was superb.

Any additional comments?

I am now a huge Kresley Cole fan. I am hooked on this book and looking forward to the next one. If you are a Vampire fan this is the book for you.

LOVED IT!

What did you love best about A Hunger Like No Other?

Robert Petkoff's narration - especially as Lachlan (Forest scene!!!)....

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lachlan - love the scottish 'growl' .....

Which character – as performed by Robert Petkoff – was your favorite?

Robert does an excellent job of Lachlan - in transition, "you're there" in the forest, quivering with the excitement!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Bit of everything... Wasn't too gushy, and 'twinkly' so to speak. I initially purchased the book because it had rave reviews about the narration, which truly did exceed my expectations. Well worth the purchase.

Loved it, while character flaws were rough.

I loved this book. While it was frustrating to watch Lachlain (is that how it's spelled?) constantly manipulate and underestimate Emma to what seemed to be no end, all was well that ended well. Emma's growth was amazing throughout the story and she became a female character to be proud of. Lachlain changed his ways although it would have been nice if he had done so earlier. Regardless, the sexy scenes were out of this world and I found myself having to fan myself a few times, things were getting so hot! I loved how passionate and fierce they were together. An excellent book. That said, I know a lot of people will dislike and misunderstand Lachlain because of the way he manipulated Emma and treated her like a porcelain doll. I think this was done to show how both of them kept holding out in the other, holding in important secrets and not communicating when it would have helped so much. I look forward to Garrett's story.

Interesting but not wow.

During the first half of this audio I almost gave up on it. The situation between the two main characters becomes very repetitive. However I am pleased I stayed with it as the second half was very good. I have never listened to or read a supernatural type book before so I am now interested but not sold. Mr Petkoff has the most amazing voice. Incredibly good interpretation of a sexy Scottish brogue, but I am afraid Emma did sound mostly like a man trying to be a woman (Mrs Doubtfire the movie kept coming to mind) but other than that I so enjoyed listening to Robert and would listen to him anytime....particularly if playing a Scotsman!!

pretty good

I enjoyed this book. The performance was ok. I enjoyed his performance of Mist's voice on the first book, but his voice for Emma was a little strange.
