Publisher's summary

A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her....

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy....

Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents - until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae - and their notorious dark desires - ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

An all-consuming desire....

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

Good start to the series

This is a great start to the series. I have all the books and was glad to see this one as an audio book. Can't wait for the other titles to be added to audio.

Not Safe for Some Readers

I have enjoyed this book more than once. It's gripping and definitely succeeds as a fantasy genre novel. It is also funny, romantic, and very sexy after the first ten or so chapters. This series is infinitely better than 50 Shade of Gray, but it shares a big flaw with that book.

For readers who have been sexually assaulted or abused, don't read this book or the first book in the series. The first chapters made my skin crawl with forcible groping and our "hero" asserting that the "heroine's" resulting physical arousal is the same as consent. The violence stops short of penile penetration, but the heroine is manually raped. The worst part is that the heroine falls in love with her perpetrator and complains only of being imprisoned by the hero.

I can't be the only per son with these objections. In this and subsequent books, the author tries to excuse the assault because the hero has been cut off from the world for 150 years and has PTSD when in the in the presence of vampire, and the heroine is half vampires. Nonetheless, our heroine was thoroughly modern an d she should have called abuse abuse, assault assault.
The rest of the books do not give me any heartburn

Now all I want is a Scottish Werewolf!

Where does A Hunger Like No Other rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book was so fun it was in a class by itself.

What other book might you compare A Hunger Like No Other to and why?

I guess the Black Dagger Brotherhood may compare. If you like this series you would like BDB. The world building is very detailed and stays consistent even though each book is about a different set of lovers.

Which character – as performed by Robert Petkoff – was your favorite?

Lachlain MacRieve!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did have an extreme reaction to these characters, the Werewolves were a hoot and when they finally get down to it, it's hot.

Any additional comments?

So far I've loved every book in this series except the last one and only because I haven't read it yet. The author does have a formula that by the 3rd book you've figured out but have no fear the mental masturbation does get relieved eventually so once you've read a few you can deal more easily. But although you can predict some of it, the story lines are great, they're well written and a whole lot of fun. I'd recommend this series to all my girls at work.

Just too good!

I love her books and this series is not different! Love the story plot, the way it develops, and Petkoff....does a great job! I'm not an expert in accents, but to me, he does a great job with both males and females characters. Worth listening to the series!

Loved It

Any additional comments?

Great narration. I like to list this first as it can make or break a story.

Loved this story. Have listened to this one over and over. Probable helps that Lothaire has not been in any othe the other Cole books I have listened too.Easy listerning and very entertaining. Will be impatiently waiting for any new books in audio from this author.

I really enjoy it when readers with similar reading interests list their favourite authors and series. It really helps me find new authors too follow. Mine are Charlaine Harris, Jeaniene Frost, Jennifer Estep, Faith Hunter, Molly Harper, Ilona Andrews, Kresley Cole, Deborah Harkness, Nalini Singh, Coreene Callahan and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Happy Reading

Start with #4 before you read this one

The reader and author got so much better at book #4. Maybe #2,3 are good, but I know #4 is great. The reader did not get his stride on this starter book. #4,5,6 have so much humor.
If you have not read books, and want to be a K.C. fan then I would not start with this one as it seems a bit dark, slow, and no way as much fun as the later books. I think K.C. felt humor would set her apart from other authors and it has.
