A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her....
After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.
A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy....
Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents - until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae - and their notorious dark desires - ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.
An all-consuming desire....
Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

"A unique romance - it truly stands on its own!" (Sherrilyn Kenyon, New York Times bestselling author)
The narrator conveyed the Lykae perfectly...seductive and a sexy voice, but I wasn't very fond of Emmaline's voice. I was put off at first, but it's easy to overlook it due to the steamy plot. Don't get put off with the weak female character because it's worth at the end when her character turns the table. I could not stop listening as I "hungered" for more.
I am Who I am; and you are Who you are...so lets leave it at that.
I like how the author introduce the different supernatural characters. I like how the werewolves done follow the common myths. None of the supernatural do.
I think the part when the Main female character fought her father to the death.
I think he did a great job. I usually dont think men narrators can do a very good female voice. But his female voices were great.
I have no idea...this is a dumb question.
I hope the other books will be available soon.
What story there is is repetitive and just a break between sex scenes. Neither lead character is particularly likable and they are just not interesting. The narrator was good, but completely wasted on this rubbish. A wasted credit and I will not be purchasing any other books in this series.
Audible addicted love mystery, lately stuck on love story. Mother of 1 Labrador and 1 perfect man. Work way too hard, and so ready to be retired
Took a chance I felt it was funny kind of sexy, very busy story lost me at time so many to keep up with but well worth the discount on it now to try it can't beat cost. Trying second one now see if its better. The narrator was great, men normally don't do women well but Robert thumbs up I love the way he gave them all their own voice with a twist love the main characters.awesome job.
I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
Now THIS is paranormal romance! Action, drama, suspense, wit and more intriguing supernatural beings than we can shake a broomstick at coalesce into one of the best paranormal romances ever. This is an amazing intro into a very promising series, one with plenty of well-rounded secondary characters to carry on what begins here. Lachlain is at once a rough, anti-hero alpha and achingly caring and sexy. He's very complex given the nature of his last several centuries and he couldn't be better complimented by Emma's sweet, yet not-so-biddable nature. She's weak in the beginning, yes, but morphs into a powerful, kick butt type the longer she interacts with our hero. She's smart, witty and possesses a timeless grace that others around her can only dream of possessing. Her family of Valkyries is very intriguing and I'm glad to see Cole keeping their stories coming as well. This is a very fresh, very consuming addition to the world of paranormal romance. Very much worth as many rereads as the book itself can handle. It's on to the second in the series next, No Rest for the Wicked and the third, Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night.
Robert Petkoff is one of the best narrator I have listened too. He made a really good book great.
Say something about yourself!
The world created is amusing...the characters were well developed, and I plan on listening to the rest of the series when I get a chance. I wouldn't rank this up there with my dear God I have to read the next one...like I did with Black Dagger Brotherhood, but I'm giving it a good review because it was a nice distraction. Nothing really amazing, but nothing truly bad, and it WAS a romance which is what I wanted.
In my heart, I believe that all fiction authors are gods. They create worlds and give life to people who only live in them.
I enjoyed this book despite the rape-y scenes. Male protagonist starts off abusive and threatening, but comes around. I can see how someone who has experienced abuse might not want to read this. Hope it isn't a theme for this author, because I'd like to read future books in the series. Narrator was excellent.
Over the last few months I have listened to COUNTLESS supernatural romances, and when I saw this one on sale I figured what the heck.....OMG this is by far the best supernatural romance that I have listened to yet! The Narrator...Hats off to him...He was good...really good! I wish that all of Kresley Coles's Immortals series were on audible....
Can't hear you....I'm reading!!
Maybe, but I'm not a read a book again type of person. There are too many books out there that I haven't read.
Mist, because she is sanely insane. She made me laugh
I have not listened to any of Robert Petkoff's performance, but he is awesome in this book. He brings the book to life. He is distinct in the characters and you can tell the difference who is who.
I laughed out loud literally.
Good book, great narrator!
Yes, for the narration! I've since listened to the other books in this series (ALL of which I prefer to this first story) but I was willing to put up with formula-based plotline because the narrator, Robert Petkoff, rocked my world. Like no joke.
Yes, with the understanding that it's the least good of the series, but worth wading through for hearing Lachlan's voice.
Nothing stood out - I was mostly overwhelmed but HAWT narration.
I was totally inspired to marathon listen to the other books in the series. They get a lot better so easily worth listening to this one.
To paraphrase another review, have lots of fresh panties on hand! You will need them!
