Publisher's summary

The unrelenting cheer in Fool’s Gold, California, is bringing out the humbug in dancer Evie Stryker. She learned early on that Christmas miracles don’t happen, at least not for her. And this year seems like no exception. An injury has forced her to return to the family fold, no matter that they’re estranged. She won’t add to the awkward scenario by being seduced by the bad-boy charms of her brother’s best friend, the last man she should ever want to date. Even when she’s recruited to stage the Fool’s Gold winter festival, she vows to do as promised, then move forward with her life anywhere but here.

Jaded lawyer Dante Jefferson is getting used to the backwater town he now reluctantly calls home, but the pounding of little dancers’ feet above his temporary office is more than any man should have to take! When he confronts their gorgeous teacher, he’s unprepared for the attraction that sears him down to the soul. Evie is his best friend’s sister - off-limits unless he’s willing to risk his heart. Dante has always believed that love is the most dangerous force in the universe, but that was before he had to reckon with the magic of a certain small town, where miracles do seem to happen….

Fool's Gold Magic-Good for a smile

I have enjoyed all of the Fool’s Gold books and this book was no disappointment. The relationships in the Stryker family are complicated and imperfect. It was nice seeing the three friends again (Heidi, Charlie and Annabel) and finally meeting Evie. Her relationship with the family is heartbreaking. I love that it wasn’t glossed over nor was a magic wand waived and everything “all better”. As always, it is easy to relate and understand Mallery’s characters. I couldn’t help but fall in love with Dante and Evie. Dante is such a wonderful imperfect hero. I couldn’t help but get mad at him along with the heroine and forgive him along with the heroine. The only down side was the book ended.

Light Hearted Listening

Would you listen to A Fool's Gold Christmas again? Why?

This was not my first Fool's Gold audiobook, it's nice to read or listen to a book that's not all bad language and sex. A little steamy sex being mentioned is a good thing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Fool's Gold Christmas?

It was a bit strange about the elephant but a nice touch to bring in about Jesus loving all of God's creatures.

Which character – as performed by Tanya Eby – was your favorite?

Evie, of course. She just couldn't tell anyone no, much like myself and just an all around good girl.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I have been around dance schools when I was a child and also when my daughter danced so I could relate to some of the happenings in getting the program off the ground. It's always so nice at the end when there is an unexpected surprise for the instructor. Not that I didn't see it coming for Evie but still a nice touch.

Any additional comments?

Romance with a bit of mystery is a good thing.

Great Read

Who was your favorite character and why?

Evie, she is complicated as her mother is known as nurturing yet didn't nurture her only daughter!

Which scene was your favorite?

Favorite scene is definitely when the "brothers" discover Evie and Dante at her apartment.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Opposites Attract!
