Publisher's summary

Burning alive is nothing compared to the heat of his touch. There are better ways to break up with a girl than having her roasted at the stake as a witch. Is it any wonder Ysabel has trust issues? She got her revenge, though, and it cost her only a slightly tarnished soul. Working for Lucifer isn't all bad until her ex-boyfriend escapes the bowels of hell, and she's forced to team up with a womanizing demon to fetch the jerk back.

As a minion in Lucifer's legion, Remy's seen a lot of things, but nothing can prepare him for the witch with the acerbic tongue - and voluptuous figure. The more she pushes him away, the more determined he becomes to seduce her. However, what's a poor demon to do when he accidentally falls in love and wants to keep her forever?

Welcome to hell, where you're screwed if you do and damned if don't. And just so you know, Lucifer has a special spot reserved for you....

good narration, bad book

I picked this up expecting a funny, fluffy, sexy romp. What I got instead was an entire book of the heroine forcefully saying she wasn't interested and a 'hero' who never backed off, groping her when unconscious and such. The book is just CONSTANT innuendo and icky rape-culture insistence that regardless of what a woman says, if a man persists he'll get the girl. It even uses several of the stock phrases, like, "her voice said no, but her tone said yes."

If I'm honest, there was probably a time (years ago) when I could have read this and only noticed the funny bits (and there are some) and think, "it's so hot he wants her so bad." But growing up and learning to think even minimally critically about what I read blitzed it. This is frankly just gross. Which is a shame. I've read Langlais in the past and not hated it. Now I have to wonder if those books were better or I was just oblivious to their badness.

Awesome Story and Performance! Lots of Laughs!

Who Knew Going To Hell Could Be So Funny!

Wow! This was such a treat! When I first started listening, I wasn't sure what to expect, but was surprised, and highly entertained by all the snarky, sassy, and witty dialogue between the two main characters. Eve Langlais did an amazing job creating a plot about hell, demons, and Lucifer, and turning it into fun story that was truly unique, hilarious, and sexy. The characters were outlandish, and had me laughing hard! I'm definitely continuing this series!

Mindy Kennedy narration was spot-on. She really delivered all the snarky, sassy, and sarcastic dialogue flawlessly. I liked how she portrayed the characters and the different emotions. Her performance ROCKED! Kudos!

After being betrayed and burned at the stake, Ysabel makes a deal with Lucifer to get revenge for those who played a part in her death. While she maybe spending her eternity in hell, she can at least take comfort in knowing those who played a part in her demise are down there as well. Part of her deal with Lucifer is to spend 500 years in his service, and her time almost up; however, Lucifer has some really bad new for Ysabel. In order for her "contract" to be fulfilled, she must retrieve the souls who have escaped and return them back to hell. Because these souls are the ones who betrayed Ysabel, she will suffer her curse until they are return. Lucifer's knows she's going to need help locating these escaped souls, and he assigns Remy, a true womanizer, to assist her (but he secretly he has an alternative motive for paring these two). Needless to say, these two do not hit it off when they first meet. Remy and Ysabel were HILARIOUS, I loved listening to their snarky banter, and how they tried to resist their feelings for each other.

I really enjoyed this story, and while it was short it had it all! Humor, steamy sex, flirty banter, action and a plot! Recommend for any PNR fan!

Bad, just bad. UGH! Sigh. SMH. Oh geez. Really?!

Wow this book started out funny and interesting. Then went down hill from there. As soon as the Hero Remy entered the picture it got really bad. The whole of the rest of the book and ALL the conversations were nothing but crude sexual innuendos. I am not even exaggerating a little. It was pretty bad.

There were some funny moments and I did enjoy Lucifer quite a bit.

The story line would have been good, it even started out good. But the author ruined it with nothing but crudeness. It was like all of a sudden Remy shows up in the story and the entire book changes from hahaha this is a funny book to WTH! and WHY!.....

I will not be moving forward with this series. The writing became just to stupid. Some of the dialogue was so stupid and cheesy that I was SMH, doing a lot eye rolling, oh geez give me a break, who writes like this? There was more talk about sex than there was actual sex, there was only 2 sex scenes the rest of the book was all sex talk. Stupid bad porn talk. It wasn't even good sex talk.

As for the narration it was pretty decent, I think the men's voices could have been better but it wasn't bad. There was emotion in her reading. I would listen to her again, just no more of this series.

Glad it was only 4 hours

Let me preface this review with saying, I do not listen to romance normally. However, some books in the romance package caught my eye. I figured I would give it a chance, and sign up for the trial. I love stories about witches, demons, ghosts etc. I was also anticipating listening to something a little more "sexy" than I ever have before.

Lackluster is the one true adjective I would use to describe the overall book. I did not enjoy any of the characters, Remy was way too egotistical, Lucifer, the stereotypical macho male & Ysabel, the insufferable "tough girl"
The "sex scenes" were also 'meh'. There wasn't enough build up between the two for it to be satisfying to listen to. I've listened/read better sex scenes in thriller books.

Glad the book was free - everything about it was mediocre. I am not sure how it's received so many 5 star reviews.

Mouthy and maniacal

Why did I wait so long to get in on this p😜rny popcorn goodness? Oh, yeah, because these are expensive novellas. Bought on sale, this was fun and feisty. Ysabel reminded me a lot of Wynona Earp from the TV series named after her; prickly and vulnerable at the same time, hiding behind snark and bark.

I loved the hate-flirting. I loved the supporting characters, like Remy’s crazy demon mom and Lucifer, the devil who Macarenas. Sadly, this series isn’t yet bundled, so I’ll need to wait for each novella to go on sale, and then it’s hello kitty, mroww! 😉

Everyone Must Read: Delightful and Funny

I stumbled unto a new author (for me) Ms. Langlais. Her writing style is exactly what I crave--hilarious, well-written plots and characters. Granted, this particular series is different only in location but love does happen anywhere and everywhere...so why not in hell? The main character is full of self-doubts and has major trust issues. However, you cannot help but fall in love with the dirty-talking demon who is tasked to assist her. Their banter is fresh and laugh-out-loud funny. Even the 'Prince of Darkness' is rather likable in this delightful series. And two thumbs up for Mindy Kennedy--the narration is great too. I highly recommend and so worth a credit.

Had a little bit of everything

I was completely surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It was funny, well written fast paced. The author did an incredible job of world building and managed to add depth to all the characters. I cared about the outcome because somehow for a short story we were given enough about them to make it matter.
I love a well written underworld story - this one was a funny, light read that kept me entertained.

My witch

This book was fantastic. It was full of action, very humorous. I look forward to more in this series, The Devil playing match maker. Of he has a motive. The narrator was great.
