Publisher's summary

Rule #1: Never get involved with someone who won't be there for you when the sun comes up.

Once bitten, twice shy, and sexy P.I. Jackie Morrisey wasn't going there again. Vincent Argeneau may be the hottest guy she's ever met, living or dead, but she's here to stop a killer from turning this vampire into dust, not to jump into bed with him.

Rule #2:Never kiss a vampire...it can be a pain in the neck.

Okay, so Vincent's had 400 years to perfect his kissing skills, and he does look rather tempting when he runs around the house shirtless. He's also charming, protective...did we mention he can kiss? Jackie needs to be on her guard, or else she'll have to come up with a new rule: If you're going to fall in love with a vampire, make sure it's a bite to remember.

Love in vein: listen to more tales of the Argeneau Vampires.

cut the reader loose

Where does A Bite to Remember rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Its a great story. Loved it. This story rates a "re-listen". Too bad I won't. Only because the reader didnt give it the reading it deserved.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Vincent is great. I started liking this character from the previous book. He's wild and crazy and has an interesting feeding problem.

How could the performance have been better?

The performance could have been better if the reader had put more effort in the reading. She read as if it were a news article...no feeling and hardly no difference between characters. She spoke cleary though...a bit slow like she was reading to a pre-schooler. It would have been good to hear more differences between characters and differences of the love scenes, the tragic scenes or the funny scenes. Its a good thing I have a good imagination. I loved the story but it would be painful to listen to it again. This book needs to be scrapped and replaced with a different reader or if this reader made improvements...

Narrator getting better, but still irritating

The only major problem with audio books is their dependence on the skills of the narrator. A good book can be ruined by a bad narrator and a mediocre book can appear better by a great one.

The books narrated by Ms. McGee tend to fall into the former category. To give her her due she has gotten better since the first book in this series. She finally has some character differentiation, which helps a great deal. She has also gotten better at correct pronunciation of many of the words she used to butcher. However her pacing and her actual speech patterns are repetitive and irritating. For example in nine sentences out of ten her voice pitch drops and her pace slows at the end of each sentence.

I had intended to skip the books she narrates in this series, but my mother loves the series so much as to ask me to get them, so I did. But I will not start any further series in which she provides narration.

As far as the book, itself is concerned, I did enjoy most of it greatly. The one part that irritated me greatly, though, was the denouement. I understand why it was written in that way, but what human would ask questions about "how" before asking questions about "why?"

The narration really is bad

Setting: Toronto, Canada
Genre: Paranormal romance
This is about a blood-thirsty vampire who faints at the sight of blood, and a psychologist who specializes in treating phobias. For her birthday Lissianna's mom kidnaps this guy, thinking he can cure her. Unfortunately, Lissiana's case isn't an easy one, so they keep him around longer than they planned, then they discover that he is her life-mate. Meanwhile, someone is trying to stake her.
This is an average story taken to a lower average by narration. Hey, I've discovered another name to my buy-the-Kindle-instead list. The best thing I can say about Victoria McGee is that her performance is uneven between books.
If you like light paranormal romance AND can deal with the narration, this is a good book, though you should get it on sale. On the other hand, if the story sounds good, get it from Kindle.

Bad Narrator

This is the same bad narrator from the first book. If you can get over it, the story is pretty good.

A bite to remember

Great writer but I edited out the sex, it gets way to detailed. I also think this book could be narrated better by someone not so robotic sounding. She sounded like she had a computer voice at times.

Narrator Disappointment

The story finally starts to follow the "True Life Mate" lines. It is now being told in a way that expects all the Immortal population to know what qualifies someone as a life mate instead of it being a mystery, which was really naive of the writer. Not all the symptoms of life mates has been figured out yet, but Sands is getting there. It was a let down that Vincent was not his easy going and funny personality that was introduced in Tall Dark & Hungry, but it was still interesting. I would like a fleshier plot exploration. Some real character growth instead of the 180s that keep happening all of a sudden. People don't change that fast. Victoria McGee was a real let down again. Her flat emotion and careful speech make it hard to suffer through. If I didn't have a devotion to the series and a compulsiveness to go in order without skipping, I would skip all the books she narrates. Her voice for Tiny makes him sound very simple and dumb. Marguerite sounds like an old British grandma and her Italian accent is just plain bad. Luckily she only narrates two more stories. It's four too many stories altogether, but I'll slog through them anyway.

Wish I'd been able to give this on a better review

Torturous narration, I'll definitely NOT listen to anything with her again. I've been an avid fan of audible books for decades, and obviously not all of them were winners. This one required stamina to get through. I've enjoyed this series through out the years, but I have to say that some of the storylines have been a bit hit & miss.

Awful narration.

I may have been able to enjoy this book had it not been for the narrator. The entire book is read in a monotone. I hope this narrator is NOT reading any of the other books in this series.

AVOID THIS NARRATOR ! ! !

The story was 4 stars but the narrator was worse than horrible. I forced myself to listen because I paid for the audiobook. I will NEVER buy another audiobook narrated by this woman. Avoid this narrator at all costs.
