Say something about yourself!
I have read these books and listened to the original recordings which I loved. Cassandra Campbell was great. Maureen Jones doesn't portray the characters as having Southern accents and her pronunciation of the word garage is terrible. I never realized how many times the word occurred until I heard her recording. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard ! I don't know where she's from, but they should have chosen someone from the south to narrate these new recordings
I like the series but I really hate the change of reader. If the main character is southern girl from Atlanta she would pronounce about as A boat or garage as garreage. It was aggregating and detracted from the flow of the book.
Life's too short, ride your best horse first!
I really enjoy this series. Fun and light chick lit with characters you really care about. I was glad to see that Audible was able to provide the remainder of the series after first listening to #1 a year or so ago andand by now I'm too spoiled to actually read to myself if it's unrelated to work. Audible all the way!
Wesley, because he's very interesting and compelling.
No. The narration has been a disappointment to me in the series. As someone born in Texas and raised in Virginia, I find the Canadian pronunciation of words distracting to a story set in Georgia. I think I would enjoy this narrator for other stories, but not one set in southern states. Each time I heard words like garage and been, it took me out of the story for a spell.
I'm currently on the 5th in the series, so my reaction was I didn't want to stop listening ☺
This is a fun series. Always great to find someone new with lots of books on hand! I have to say Cassandra Campbell, narrartor on the first book, far surpassed Maureen Jones. Maureen has a pleasant voice but a Canadian accent for a series set in Atlanta? And the word is GarAHge not Garaajj. Never have heard such a common word so mangled. Again and again and again in the book. Other than that well worth the credit.
learn to say garage. its got a great cast funny listen cant wait for more.... just learn to day garage.
well maybe its just where these narrators are from but i have never heard garage said like this, gar-âj. i have an accent & have spoke a non standard dialect so i know about sounding funny to people. All the Bond books ive heard have this issue. At least this narrator has WAAAAY less than the last books i listed to.
Totally enjoyable book!! I definitely would recommend it to others. Story line and narration was awesomely fabulous! Way to go!
I really enjoyed book 1 of this series. however, there was a narrator change for book 2 and I didn't enjoy the narrator. they can really make or break a story. the narrator was entirely too dramatic and made several of the males sound flamingly gay. otherwise, this a great little story line and I can't decide which of the men Carlotta should end up with.
