Publisher's summary

Dear Listener, You don't know me yet, but in a few hours that's going to change. You see, I'm inviting you to my home and my town of Cedar Cove, because I want you to meet my family, friends, and neighbors. Come and hear their stories - maybe even their secrets! I have to admit that my own secrets are pretty open. My marriage failed some years ago, and I have a rather...difficult relationship with my daughter, Justine. Then there's my mother, Charlotte, who has plenty of opinions and is always willing to share them. Here's an example: I'm a family court judge, and she likes to drop in on my courtroom. Recently, I was hearing a divorce petition. In Charlotte's view, young Cecilia and Ian Randall hadn't tried hard enough to make their marriage work - and I agreed. So I rendered my judgement: Divorce Denied. Well, you wouldn't believe the reaction! Thanks to an article by Jack Griffin, the editor of our local paper (and a man I wouldn't mind seeing more of!), everyone's talking. Cedar Cove - people love it and sometimes they leave it, but they never forget it! See you soon...Olivia Lockhart, 16 Lighthouse Road, Cedar Cove, Washington

"Prolific Macomber...is known for her honest portrayals of ordinary women in small-town America, and this tale cements her position as an icon of the genre." ( Publishers Weekly)

Definitely different

Any additional comments?

This book is a mix of multiple dysfunctional relationships of a group of people and how their lives cross each other. It is definitely different trying to keep up with the multiple relationships and all of the problems but the majority of them are resolved in the end.

I rolled my eyes a lot and even shed a few tears. All in all it's a good read but you have to be open to the multiple story lines simultaneously being told. There were a few times I wasn't sure I'd make it though but I hung in there and will say it was worth the read.

I have to say she did a good job getting all of the relationships to progress together.

Stick with the Blossom St if you like Macomber

This wasn't awful, it was good enough to make me buy the second in the series ( see reveiw on book 2, please!!). Sandra Burr did a good enough narration, but the story was just ok, If you are a Debbie Macomber fan, and I am, stick with the Blossom Street series. That being said, I have actually read the Blossom St, not listened to it so I can't comment on the performance.

#17 LighHouse Road pleasant and entertaining

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I usually finish books I enjoy. There were more active charactors and side stories than I usually seek, but they were easy to follow and interesting.

It was good but...

I’ve read a few of the Blossom St books and thought they were really cute. This one I wasn’t so crazy about. It was pretty predictable in one of the 3 stories.
I m going to try the Rose Harbor series

Cedar Cove

One of my favorite literary towns. I've read other Cedar Cove stories so thought I would read the book that started it all. I was not disappointed! I can always rely on Debbie for a heartwarming story with wonderful characters.

I bought this when it was the deal of the day. I'd heard of the author, so figured I would try it out. I'm couldn't get past the first hour.
