Publisher's summary

Eighteen-year-old Sadie Stark, raised by the governor of Pennsylvania, has the world on a string. She doesn't need the mother who left her any more than she needs the fiancé who promises to change. What she needs is to finish college and keep her wits about her. When war-bound James Pasko returns her stolen clutch, and shows her what's missing in her life, she gains the courage to search for the truth about her past. What Sadie uncovers rattles her to the core. But James' steadfast love gives her hope for the future - for the first time - even as the war tears them apart. When James disappears over enemy lines and Sadie makes a startling discovery, she must decide to follow in the footsteps of the mother who gave her away, or face a life of hardship like she's never known.

Beep beep beep....

Really enjoyed this story. To be loved by admirers, and choose based on family guidance is never an easy way to love. Writer researches time period very well.

Story itself was good. Took awhile to get into due to background information. The editing was not done on this book. You can hear the reader many times patch into and out with her signal “beep.” Odd.

Reader had good flow, as did the story. This was well written with many twist and turns.

Heartwarming Story!

After reading the summary of this book I wasn't sure if I would like it but to my delight I loved this book. This heartfelt beautifully written story is filled with true to life conflicts and heartaches during war time. I was smiling one minute and crying the next. It shows the struggles, hardships, romances, and family issues of life no matter what era. It's truly a heartwarming book!

(Note: As much as I loved this book I didn't appreciate the production quality. The narrator did a great job but there are many mistakes....errors that should have been caught in the editing process. These errors are not the narrator's fault but I had to give 4 stars because of this issue. I've contacted technical support regarding this issue so hopefully it will get fixed soon.)

Great story- bad quality

There were issues with the recording. It skipped in places and had a weird audible beep. I dealt with the annoying quality because the story was good.

EDIT (verb)

Absolutely annoying listening to actual editing cues and no editing. Great for teaching exercise. Narrator actually says "beep" then speaks the line again. Not so amusing after first time or two.

The premise itself had the potential to be a good book. The storyline, unfortunately, is ruined by one- dimensional characters and shamefully little character development. Did I mention the editing issues?

Shame on me for rushing, it's both the first and last time I judge without at least a peek at reviews. I'm actually too embarrassed to go back and read them now, they probably mention editing.

Return To Me has many tech mistakes...

I love a good WWII story and this was a good story, but the read was off putting. Audible needs to consider a serious re-edit. I’ve read hundreds of Audible books but never one with so many technical mistakes, an unfortunate thing for the reader AND the author.

Terrible editing

The story was good. The narrator was good. I have been an audible customer for years and have not listened to a book this poorly put together. Most mistakes are in the first fifteen chapters. A couple of places there are beeps, and the narrator starts over. At one spot she sighs, that should have been edited out. There are several sentence repeats. In chapters nine and ten there are conversations of a different scene inserted in a in a conversation; then it goes back to the original scene. Very confusing ! This needs to be fixed.
