Publisher's summary

Life is the ultimate game of hide and seek... and the good news is that you're it! With the combination of playful irreverence and penetrating insight that made him a legend in Western philosophy, Alan Watts investigates the surprisingly liberating concept of "the universe as play" found at the heart of Hinduism, Zen, and other wisdom traditions.

Carefully selected by his son and archivist Mark Watts, You're It: On Hiding, Seeking, and Being Found features more than 10 hours of newly restored historic talks from the "spiritual entertainer" who helped define Eastern thought to audiences in the West. Here is a rare chance for listeners to experience the enduring brilliance of one of the greatest spiritual voices of the 20th century.

All the Watts you'll ever need

This series of lectures is a comprehensive compilation of Watts teaching on Buddhism, Zen, Hinduism and Taoism. Plus there is also the humor of his one-of-a-kind philosophy based on years of studying the Eastern religions and philosophy. As an Anglican Priest he also has great insights into Christianity. Once you've listened to this you've got everything Watts had to give. Although like me, you may find yourself drawn to rehearing these humorous and insightful talks over and over again.

The perfect audio for those who love to think

So many people out there like to present thoughts and ideas in a way that gives you the answer.....The answer from their perspective. Alan Watts, in "You're It!" presents thoughts, ideas and perspectives that encourage you to think for yourself. He does not tell you what to do, or how to do it....He allows you to arrive at that on your own. What you do with it is up to you.

Alan Watts does not speak "like" anything....He is an intellectual (An intellectual is a person who uses intelligence (thought and reason) and critical or analytical reasoning in either a professional or a personal capacity.) and if this sort of thing bores you....Well, listen to it three more times.

I find that I randomly select a chapter and listen for a bit every day.....It's that good.

Enlightenment viewed from different perspectives

A great talk about what enlightenment probably is, and more importantly"isn't", viewedfrom different religions and cultures

Timeless inspiration

Alan Watts’s audio talks and books changed my life. He is the original self help guru, part entertainer but underneath it all his message is deep wisdom.

Eye opener

Definitely an interesting series of lectures. Interesting material on the history of eastern religions and philosophies. Alan watts manages to present these in an accessible way with a lot of humor, making it understandable for everyone. Although you might not agree to all his interpretations, the lectures guarantee an interesting points of view to think about.

Good introduction to Alan Watts

What pushes Alan Watts above other exegetes of Eastern ideas is his lecturing. His voice, his delivery, his humor, all contribute fantastically to the content, his lectures are so arresting. My mind tends to wander and stray when I read Alan Watts. But when I listen, I find the opposite happens. I might be mindlessly listening to the lecture, or have it on in the background, and then a stray laugh or pithy statement grips me, and I have to rewind and start paying attention. Required listening.

Insightful!

One of the most pervasive lectures I've even listened to. I am more pacified now. I am me. I am you. I am it - the universe.
