Publisher's summary

We see depictions of him in movies, paintings, and stained-glass windows. We hear about him from the pulpit and the stage. We learn about him in the Gospels. As his disciples, we follow him; we revere him; we glorify him. But how well do we really know him?

Yeshua Matters is the story of a pastor who discovers that Jesus Christ was not just a Jewish person, but a practicing Jew, a teacher of Judaism - a rabbi, known during his earthly ministry as Rabbi Yeshua of Nazareth.

Yet despite this emerging scholarly consensus, Jesus has lost his Jewishness in the collective heart and mind of the church. We simply don't imagine, interpret, or follow him as a part of the broader tapestry of Jewish life and history.

If the author is correct, then the root of modern Christianity's maladies is not disconnection between generations, conflict over worship styles, doctrinal differences, or a failure to keep up with cultural trends, but is instead a failure to apprehend and embrace the historical figure of Jesus.

What would change if the church were to rediscover that at the very center of its faith stands a practitioner of Judaism? What would change if the Christian world were to rally around a risen Rabbi?

What would change if we all realized that Jesus' Jewishness changes everything - that Yeshua matters?

Narration duplication

I totally support and concur with the information provided in this book. However I found the number of narration duplications distracting. I would, however, get more of this authors books on audio if they were available. :-)

A great foundation for those searching for Yeshua (salvation).

If you Love Jesus with all your heart, souI, strength and mind then this is a must read! Definitely adds more depth and context to our Savior without adding or taking away from scripture.

Compelling book

What's wrong with the church? Well, I have listened to over a hundred audiobooks in the last couple years on the topic of faith and I would have to put this one near the top if not actually at the top. If you are just a believer, or you are a pastor or minister, you need to read this or listen to it, at least twice, and take notes. I will be doing the same.

The reader is absolutely perfect for this book well-paced, easy to listen to, totally clear. Don't pass this book up. And if you're one of those who've got lots of doubts and questions about Jesus, you will most certainly like this and will be enlightened.

Thought Provoking

I recently joined a Messianic Jewish congregation in the Boston area. I am a gentile Christian and I have struggled to understand the real Jesus -- Yeshua. After 2,000 years of drifting farther away from the life and times of Yeshua it can seem an impossible task to recover the essentials of His ministry. Did Yeshua abolish the Jewish Law? Are Israel still the people of promise? When will Israel recognize Yeshua as the Messiah? These questions can only be answered by understanding the historical, Jewish Jesus. For me, this journey began with a simple understanding: Jesus IS Jewish. This book is a good introduction to understanding Jesus from the Messianic perspective and I hope it will transform your walk with Yeshua.

I think this is a wonderfully insightful book !

I think this is a wonderfully insightful book that every Christian should read. the intimacy that this very thing Journey has brought into my own life is beyond words for even a review but I highly encourage those who want to know their Messiah Yeshua more intimately to read this book.

Eye opening

I don't usually write a review but in this case I had to. The book will show what you are feeling about Christianity it true. Yeshua Jesus is the way the truth and the light but we are missing something which becomes clear in this book. Very good read.
