I've never read such an encouraging, helpful, practical, and realistic book on studying the Word. It was such a joy to read, and I'm walking away with numerous pages of notes and also a new, fuller perspective on how to get into the Word. Jen, who I quickly came to just love, doesn't necessarily give an easy five step plan for how to read the Bible and magically get the most out of it, but she unpacks the meaning of being a true woman OF the Word, and how to truly read, know, understand, and maybe even teach it to other women. I am so thankful for this book, and wholeheartedly recommend it to women who want to know the Word.
This book gave me something I feel like I never learned growing up in the church: tools. Tools of practicality. How do I actually dig in to Gods word and make life application? This book tells you exactly that.
This book really does show you the privilege we have in studying God's Word. The information on how to study is to the point and not too wordy. If you are a teacher there is amazing encouragement and guidance on how to teach well. I walked away from this book with a desire to know my God better and the joy of knowing I can.
Time is valuable to me as a working mom. But this book is so worth it!! Filled even more than I anticipated with a system in which to study the Bible and learn more about its author.
This book is so rich, helping us to explore the Bible in a way that we are made to read it. I particularly enjoyed the audible version, read by the author. I will likely listen to it again.
Women wishing to do more than skim the surface of the Word and encounter the Living God will benefit from Jen Wilkin's instruction on encountering Scripture.
One of the themes mentioned in the book - dissonance after reading Scripture - helped me greatly as I thought something was wrong with me because I felt that way frequently as of late; resulting in my disillusionment of sorts with really studying Scripture. As a further result, I chose to not study on my own and simply read other author's commentaries and studies. Jen Wilkin has shed light on where I am and has helped me to see I can move forward in confidence. Thank you!
Loved hearing it read by the author.
Truth, pure truth... encouraging, challenging & inspiring.
Yes, and great!
