Publisher's summary

Night after night Mike and Sam found their beds under bridges and on the streets. They were forced to depend on the generosity and kindness of strangers as they panhandled to sustain their existence. For more than five months, the pair experienced firsthand the extreme pains of hunger, the constant uncertainty and danger of living on the streets, exhaustion, depression, and social rejection-and all of this by their own choice. This is their story. Through Mike's firsthand account, Under the Overpass provides important insight into the truths of the street and calls the younger generation of believers to take great risks of faith to bring Christ's love to the neediest corners of the world.

Loved It!

As for the guy that remarked about the book being about a couple of "Jesus Freaks"... Do you own a three legged dog?

If only more would just see one another.

I run a program in my sons high school, we do fun events along with service projects. We read this book all together and would discuss it at the end of each chapter. I would highly recommend it. It’s eye opening to actually hear how we can help by someone who took the Leap of faith to experience what so many others are going though.
After my group of high school students read this they have become much more involved in our local homeless programs. Thanks for writing this and sharing your experiences on the street.

So Great

I loved everything about this. The guys reading it, lived it. They are fantastic and I am in awe of their ability to have lived on the streets and report what they lived to the Christian community so that we might look at ourselves and our reactions to homeless people and how we build our fellow humans up no matter the circumstances they may be facing.

Intriguing and Challenging

What made the experience of listening to Under the Overpass the most enjoyable?

The content. The idea of these guys doing something so extreme is amazing. Hearing what they encountered along the way is what kept me listening

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narration was adequate. I could tell right off that it was read by the author because the reading felt rushed. But it was clear and easy to understand. I was able to follow along and the content took over the listening experience for me anyway.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I don't know that I had an extreme reaction, but I did have a very strong, emotional reaction. It challenged my tendency to "look the other way" when I see less fortunate people around me. Now instead of trying to get away from them I am challenged to find someway to engage in their life and/or to help in some way.

Surpassing the underpass

A very realistic look at the downcast, pasted over and forgotten part of our great nation. Dirty, gritty, flithy children of God and how they are challenged in a society who has forgotten they exist. Great thing Jesus came to save these whos dirt is easy to see as well as those who hide it.
