Dr. Choquette explains the idea of balance in terms of the seven chakras, the energy centers of your body that are associated by yogic masters. The chakras are intimately associated with different parts of the body, as well as different functions of your intellects and different aspects of your psyches, all of which interact to create your overall sense of physical and psychic well-being.
The author defines the chakras one by one in terms of their function in our day-to-day lives where they influence your foundation, vitality, will, emotion, expression, clarity, and spirit. You will learn the factors that can create imbalance, how to assess whether each of your chakras is in balance, and discover methods to correct them if they are not. This wise, inspiring program clarifies the difficulties that so many of you experience in focusing your energies, and offers practical, commonsense solutions for regaining, attaining, and maintaining your true balance.

"Sonia Choquette is not only a master spiritual teacher, she is a teacher who shares her recipe for living in a series of clear, simple, doable steps. "(Julia Cameron, author of The Artist's Way)
I'm a psychotherapist who needed a quick introduction to chakras and energy work. The demystifying information presented by Sonia Choquette in 'True Balance' is immediately understandable and applicable. Her examples are clear and to the point and for each chakra she presents at least five specific unblocking techniques -- almost like treatment plans for chakra health. I listened all the way through and feel I could benefit by listening again. Highly recommended for chakra / energy work newbies like me.
Great book! Sonia doesn't talk down to her audience or over their head; she knows you can change the results you are getting in your life by paying attention to the needs of your body and spirit and gives simple, practical ways to do so. After listening to the section about the crown chakra I had an instant change of perspective on the twists and turns my life has taken in the last 2 years and some painful decisions I've had to make that instantly cleared away a lot of residual negative emotion and made me more excited about the future. I've listened to it twice and will listen to it a few more times until I really know it well. I also went out and bought the book so I can make notes in it. I have encountered so much material in the last few months that keeps coming back to chakras and although I had a basic knowledge of what they were I though acupuncture was the only way to do something with them. I'm glad I was wrong and feel like this book is now my manual for my chakras. Also Sonia's voice is very warm and calming and I love the pace of her reading. I hope she writes more, I will be reading and listening!
The "aha" moments I experienced listening to Sonia explain each chakra and the relatable stories included throughout the book.
You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, for the simple explanations about basic ideas and practices you can implement and believe to change your life and balance yourself.
First Chakra information about how unbalanced people can become after moving a lot during childhood, it really hit home for me and made me understand why I never feel at home anywhere I live.
No, I listened while I worked out or was in the car.
I am a Reiki Master ...
I like to continue my knowledge of Chakras and learn more about what the true core of my clients imbalances, to assist them in their journey.
This is a MUST ! I am going to add this book to the highly recommended reading for my students and clients alike.
I found the material very superficial, incomplete and uninformative. Sonia gives you a very general, sketchy overview of each chakra (which you can find in much more depth on the internet or in any other book in the subject)... then proceeds to provide examples that sound fictitious and, for lack of another word, downright "cheesy".
Disappointing audiobook... it might be that the printed version provides more in depth information but if the audio is any indication, I am much more inclined to seek knowledge in the subject from a completely different source.
Another western author's attempt to superficially package profound eastern philosophy for the western masses. Idealistic and feel goody. Only for those who believe in alternative philosophy such as Chakras. Interesting concept. Don't know how much I will be able to use in real life.
