Chicken soup for the creative soul

Clarissa Pinkola Estes is the Malcolm Gladwell of Jungian theory, for good reason. Like Gladwell, she has extracted from a rich sea of theory a storyline that explains to us so much of our own experience, and validates so many hunches that lurk just below the radar, always niggling but never resolved. Although I find her narration corny at times, she's also a good story teller, and sets a delightful campfire-tales atmosphere. If Jungian archetypes resonate with you at all, you'll find a treasure trove in Estes. Creatives types, or anyone not fulfilled by culturally mainstream roles, will find powerful balm in her Theater of the Imagination series.

Theatre of the Imagination, Volume 1

I love it!!! Clarissa Pinkola Est?s'poesie and stories are mystical and profound. She is witty and funny. She has a way to talk to her audience which is very genuine and intimate.I feel that she is taking to me. I am moved by the weaving of her profound reflection with the lightness of her imagination. I will get the volume 2.

lovely

like all of her works she never fails to captivate the listener. I truly wish she would do a full audio version of Women who run with wolves. my eyes are too weak to read it. I purchased volume 2 of this series now so hopefully it as delightful and life changing as I know it will be.

Just....WOW

I think I could listen to Clarissa's voice - forever. These stories have moved me deeply and I feel like a changed person after having listened to them. Beautiful, sensual, tragic - it's all here. What a spiritual feast and delight.

Chapter 3 cut 40 min short! 😔

I purchased this title digitally to replace my much-loved CD set that I'd had for decades, but if I'd known that Audible would cut one of the chapters (Vasalisa & the Baba Yaga) about 40 minutes short, I would have purchased from Sounds True instead. Disappointed!! 😔

Grab a broom and sweep your imagination!

Would you consider the audio edition of Theatre of the Imagination, Volume 1 to be better than the print version?

Clarissa Pinkola Estes is a storyteller, a cantaora... Theatre of the Imagination is not a book narrated by the author, it is the wild way to transmit weapons for self knowledge.

What did you like best about this story?

Stories old and new came to life and that would have been enough, but wait, there is more! Theatre of the Imagination is a journey of self discovery that leads to consciousness, to a bigger life and is not for the faint of heart.

Have you listened to any of Clarissa Pinkola Estes’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was the first time I ever heard Clarissa Pinkola Estes and I was swept by her rich voice and mastery of the spoken word, plus she made me laugh!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Grab a broom and sweep your imagination!

Any additional comments?

I'm ready for the next journey...

One of the greatest audiobook of Dr Estes

I’ve hear many of her books and this one maybe for its tittle didn’t attract me much. One day after the loss of a lovely uncle I knew I had to listen to her to help me cope with my pain. I didn’t expect many great stories but something called me towards this audio. Amazingly there was a story that helped me , and later on a few other stories that REALLY touched aspects of my life and helped me understand and heal. This audiobook is one of the greatest I’ve ever heard. I love you Dr Estes. You help me so much with your work. You are blessed , may you enjoy good life and good health for many more years.

Estes is as gifted entertainer and intellectual

I found this book inspirational, fascinating, and an excellent jumping off point for an exploration of Jungian psychology and archetypes.
