God is so revealed in His sovereigntry & intimacy

I have been listening to this audio Bible and it is so superb. I love the Amplified Bible but this is entirely different in that it is dramatized, and very professionally done. It is like listening to a motion picture audio. They have captured the essence of each book, of each chapter, with the voice and music bringing you into it and revealing what God is saying in a way that no other dramatized version has done. I have others. When he says, "In the beginning God created...," the enunciation of the text with the orchestra makes it seem as if we know the significance of the event. I got it for the Old Testament because it is harder to be attentive to some passages, while the Amplified Bible brings out meaning in devotional passages where it is easier to connect with God. As I listened through it, I gained a greater respect for God. I saw humanity and the world as not just under His control, but He created everything and has a purpose. The scene where Cain is telling God that because of the punishment on him, that anyone who comes upon him will kill him, God seems so manifested. God established that if they did their punishment would be 7 times greater. The way it was conveyed was so real, I began talking to God as to His mercy there, and He said, no, justice. When it comes to the flood and then the animal sacrifices after leaving Egypt, it is grievous because God is such a wonderful Father, and no one was getting it. They were carnal and in the flesh and totally unaware that God is what is desirable, not the forbidden fruit and the other distractions. I felt so intimate with God because of it. The Psalms are amazingly intimate. The narrator of the Psalms has a voice with a touch of rasp that sounds melodiously beautiful and intimate with God. It is a blessing. Wow is a good brief description for the overall impact. Everyone should hear it, as it will bless every part of your life as you see God's ability and love to give you life abundant.

Very Good.

I'm quite pleased with the quality and eloquence with which this audio Bible is put together. The NKJV, which is probably one of the most accurate and thorough translations, comes to life in this convincing - but not overdone - dramatization. The narrator does an excellent job, as well, with clear pronunciation and a good feel for the text. He may not be quite as strong as he should be, but better that than too dramatic. Over all a very good work, and I highly recommend it.

What a great experience!

I really enjoyed experiencing the bible this way! It brought me a better picture and perspective on many of the stories that can be harder to get though. I wish it was broken up a bit better but other than that one of the best purchases I have ever made! Thank you for providing this! Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God, so this works for me in more way than just one!

Table of Contents

Upon opening this audiobook I was baffled by its structure. Then I found B. Stark's comment, which laid out parts, books and chapters. That was very helpful, but I found it challenging to use. Here is a brief guide and a table of contents:

GUIDE
The number of chapters in the audiobook corresponds to the number of chapters in the Bible. For example, say you want to listen to John 3:16. Begin by locating the book of John at chapter 998. Next, move from John:1 to John:3 by skipping ahead twice to chapter 1000. Finally, you can use the buttons that jump 30 seconds forward or backward to navigate verses.

Great tool for reference! A few errors though.

The voices are GREAT!
Discovered a problem today though. Mark's account of Jesus' Triumphal Entry only has one donkey, but Matthew's account has two.
Here, both have two. Boo! Now I feel like I need to pour over the rest of the gospels to see how much of this was a copy/paste job.
*edit* The same applies to Peter denying Jesus. in Matthew, he denies Jesus three times before the rooster crows, but in Mark it's before the rooster crows twice.
Argh, I don't feel like I'm getting an accurate reading at all!

Audible messed with the chapter titles

why did you mess with the titles and chapters? you took away the ability to jump to specific chapters in each book. this is horrible. Now one chapter is the entire book of the bible, which is hours and hours long and there is no way of knowing what chapter of the book you are in. Awful change. you should have left it the way it was, which was not very good to begin with because I had to make a bookmark for the beginning of every book because they had number titles which means nothing, but at least I could forward or rewind to a specific chapter in the book and add a bookmark. now every chapter has a name, but how is a person supposed to identify which chapter in the book they are listening to? much, much worse than before. At least i could skip ahead to any chapter. you should really think about the user experience before you change chapter titles. the best way to do the chapters in an audio bible is to have the ability to jump to a specific chapter in the book and know which book you are listening to. i can think of multiple ways you could have improved the chapter titles, but what you did was not an improvement. another bad decision was made trying to fix the first bad decision. you should have taken the time to label each chapter with the name of the book along with numbered chapters within each book. I am so frustrated with this change.

Dramatized with great voices

Excellent buy for only 1-Credit !!!! Makes hearing the bible with dramatized voices like being in a movie. If your looking for a good way to hear the bible and possibly for your kids to hear it while driving this is a good buy.

A Good Change of Pace

If you could sum up The Word of Promise Complete Audio Bible: NKJV in three words, what would they be?

Different, Engaging, Interesting

What other book might you compare The Word of Promise Complete Audio Bible: NKJV to and why?

Other audio presentations of the Bible in Audible. Having a dramatic presentation of the text adds to the story, rather than having just one narrator.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

I didn't really have a favorite

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

at over 70 hours I did not want to listen to it all in one sitting. However, I do enjoy listening to the dramatic presentation of the scriptures, both those that are familiar as well as the rest.

Any additional comments?

This is another way I enjoy the Bible

Jesus being beaten and then being nailed to the cross!

Jesus

Yes, and I will want to listen to it again and again.

Any additional comments?

Every character was well acted and very well portrayed in their homeland`s nationality. Every book of the Bible was so well performed I felt that I was there among the people in the Biblical times. It was truly a very spiritually moving experience. I loved every second of it!

AMAZING!

I love this theatrical version of the bible, with the actors, and the musical scoring, and the sound affects. I cannot say enough about this masterpiece.
Now, I have to rave over this bible version, because I bought a James Earl Jones version of the bible, and it was horrible, because Mr. Jones was reading the book as if it is was a speed reading competition, just horrible. I was so dissatisfied with that version, I returned it, and bought this absolutely wonderful rendition of the word of God.
