Publisher's Summary

From the afterlife - a new perspective on your life: "I know this may come as a shock, and you know I'm not fond of using stale one-liners, but - 'reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.' I'm as alive now as I was on the day we met, except, maybe, more so." If the dead could speak, don't you wonder what they would say to those of us they've left behind? What would they tell us to soothe our sorrow, calm our fears of what happens when we die, and fire us up to live the best possible lives now? With wisdom, humor, and, yes, joy, New York Times best-selling author Mike Dooley explores our most pressing and profound questions about the afterlife - and this life - from the fresh perspective of those who have made the transition to the next phase. Revelations they share:

  • We were ready; you are not.
  • There's no such thing as a devil or hell.
  • We're sorry for any pain we may have caused.
  • Your pets are just as crazy, brilliant, and loving here as they were there.
  • Nothing can prepare you for the beauty of the moment you arrive.

In this audio program, you'll learn that our loved ones are not lost to us; that our time on earth is both a school and an adventure; and that we can reshape our own fortunes, starting today.

    "I good source of information"

I’ve read many books over the years by many authors who have interviewed people who died and came back. Along with near death experiences people have had. I’ve read David Wilcox work on what really happens when we die as well as many others.

Here Mike puts them all together in one location and it’s easy to follow. I have never believed since I was a little child what I was told about death and judgement I will face when it occurs. I believe Mike has it right and that we are all loved and here to learn lessons as the ancient pagans used to teach. Which oddly enough the Catholic church taught as well until they decided it was heresy.

When you read this book you will understand why you do some of the things you do like that odd little conversation with the person in the store line that you will never see again in this life. If you did you would see how it changed both of your lives in a little way that led to something bigger. You’d understand that fearing death is a waste of time and so much more. Please approach this book with an open mind and enjoy it to it’s fullest.

    "Just Trust Me"

I actually listened to this on Audible rather than reading the book, which I have. I really WANT to give this more stars, I truly do. But I just struggled with this entire book. In the introduction he says (paraphrased): "trust me just because I know". Absolutely no explanation how he knows all things, nada. Just "trust me". Then he continues into some interesting and some totally fantastical ideas about the afterlife...out there stuff, mostly repeats of hundreds of other manifestation books. The truth is, I'd love to buy what he's saying, but it is tough. Dooley repeats what 500 quantum physics "The Secret" type books have said, only without any authority. He also takes it further with weird letters from supposed dead people. I think these letters from the dead could be very hurtful to anyone reading this trying to find some comfort about a lost loved one.

The audio version was done OK. I didn't love the narrator, but he wasn't too distracting. What was distracting was trying to figure out how and on what authority a former accountant magically turned knower-of-all-things.

"Interesting Book, but hard to listen to"
If you could sum up The Top Ten Things Dead People Want to Tell You in three words, what would they be?

Read the book! The author reads so fast it is hard to keep up with what he is saying.
Concepts are lost because he goes at light speed.

What didn’t you like about Mike Dooley’s performance?

He seems very passionate about what he is saying, but he goes so fast that you lose some of the information. You have no time to contemplate what he is saying before he has taken off on another topic. This would be a book to read and not listen to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I would have liked to listen to all of the book at one sitting. The information is very interesting.

    "Mike Dooley is a Guru"
What made the experience of listening to The Top Ten Things Dead People Want to Tell You the most enjoyable?

This book is a treasure; Mike Dooley is a treasure. This is a book to listen to many times, it is so packed with wisdom and tells the full story. It's uplifting and offers courage and confidence to face life's challenges. The author's reading is enthusiastic and sincere. there's a lot packed into every sentence so it might take a few listens. But then it is speaking truth and is a book to listen to over and over again.

What other book might you compare The Top Ten Things Dead People Want to Tell You to and why?

I haven't read any modern book that compares to it.

What about Mike Dooley’s performance did you like?

Wildly enthusiastic and, maybe moving a bit fast but, then it is a comprehensive reference that needs to be listened to more than once.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

    We are all free.

    yes

Could you see The Top Ten Things Dead People Want to Tell You being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    "Interesting ideas"

Unfortunately all these concepts are just something that's impossible to prove. in reality there's no way of knowing what is the real reality until we pass to the other side. which brings all of us back to the same old place of what is true about an afterlife? If in fact we truly know there is an afterlife. Don't get me wrong given equal opportunity for any theory to be true and given we have no concrete evidence for any theory, I choose to believe Dooleys theories are more comforting and logical then traditional thoughts or dogmas. so read the book and ponder the concepts. you'll be ask the wiser.

    Painful to listen to.

Listen to The Door of Everything by Ruby Nelson. It is 50 years old, but way ahead of this guy. It seams like he borrowed some of the concepts and then destroyed their benefit in his pedantic and condescending style.

    "Engaging Book"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Top Ten Things Dead People Want to Tell You to be better than the print version?

No. I would actually prefer to have the print version. This is one book I would like to go back and re-read parts. The writer is the narrator and he is a little too enthusiastic sometimes. I really loved the content after about the first 4 chapters. Not as good as Billy Fingers, but an interesting read.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Mike Dooley was actually writing a book about life, how to manifest what you want, how to be happy, how to get along with others, how to focus and be aware of yourself as a spiritual being having a physical experience. There was a lot of pertinent information. Most of this I have heard before but he had a succinct and interesting way of presenting the material.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    The scenes of Heave.

If you could give The Top Ten Things Dead People Want to Tell You a new subtitle, what would it be?

how to enjoy your life on the physical plane and not fear death

    Any additional comments?

I'm glad I have this book, I enjoyed it and have listened to it more than once.

I've listened to this audiobook twice since I purchased it last year, and I'm sure in 2017 I will listen to it again. It's uplifting and inspiring. I think I enjoy most the lightness in which Mike delivers it.

I loved this very gentle book. I feel hearing it now was the right time for me.
A mash up of LOA and a grief counselling session ,it helped me immensely as I lost my own mum in January.
This book renewed my faith and gave clarity to me when I was feeling wobbled. Just lovely.

The entire premise of this book is that The author has access to the thoughts of those who passed but won't tell you how he knows. Anyway it's all about love but as often happens the title is a tad misleading
