An easy to understand Bible translation.

Where does The Story, NIV: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book was far more enjoyable than other audio versions of the Bible I have listened to.

What other book might you compare The Story, NIV: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People to and why?

The Bible. The Story is basically an abridged version of the Bible. What they have done is combined stories that were told in multiple places in the Bible into one place. They have attempted to put the stories into chronological order by event. Some stories were completely omitted. However, in these instances the Zondervan people seemed to be careful not to change the meaning of the surrounding passages by these omissions.

Did Michael Blain-Rozgay and Allison Moffett do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes. God in particular has an easily recognizable voice.

Any additional comments?

I think this would be a great listen for someone who has never attempted to read the Bible. It is ideal for new christians and non-christians who know very little about what the Bible actually says. It hits all the "high points" giving the listener a good understanding of the Christian faith. It is abridged in a way that will help keep the listener from loosing interest in the early books of law. It is not a good book for someone wanting an in depth study of the Bible. While nothing is taken "out of context" much of what an in depth study would require is left out. If you have constantly tried to read through the Bible, but never make it, this is a great place to start.

Music too LOUD!

Book is of course a great story, reader is good as far as I can ascertain, the music is simply too loud to be able to hear The Story. I'm finding this to be a frequent problem with the Audible Books.

Good Way to Listen to the Word

I got The Story so I could listen to the Bible on the way to and from work. I was able to finish the whole Bible before too long. I liked the flow and continuity. Having said that, it does not take the place of being in God's word daily. For that, I prefer the One Year Bible and reading it on my Kindle.

Great Quality, but missing stuff

The book was an excellent performance of the story, but it was missing critical parts if you are planning to use this for a small group. I hope Audible realizes this and gets a hold of the missing parts from the Author in pdf or epub form.
Missing the following:
Timeline of The Story
Epilogue
Discussion Questions
Characters
Chart of Reference

I didn't realise I was a puritan...

I bought this book as I haven't yet read the bible cover to cover. I'd heard that The Story was great for getting an overview. It certainly is... but in listening to it I easily pick up parts that are "smoothed over" or omitted completely in order to facilitate The Story(line). It seems I'm a stickler for little details :-)

If you want this purely to get an overview.. in 16 hours - you'll probably enjoy it. I'll plan follow this up with the 90+ hours full (dramatized) Bible version.

I got the audio book to compliment the actual book. We are using it in church and bible study.

adults and children to follow.

The Old Old Story Told in A New New Way

If you could sum up The Story, NIV: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People in three words, what would they be?

Enjoyable, clear, true

What other book might you compare The Story, NIV: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People to and why?

It compares closest to the chronological Bbible because it is the story of the Bible in the order in which it occurred- but not every word. It starts at the beginning, uses the Bible to tell the story, then for the passage of time to next Biblical event the historical record of what was occurring in the world during that time is told. Nothing is added to any biblical teaching but it flows from beginning to the probably soon-to-come end times in a way that the picture of God's plan is clear.

Which character – as performed by Michael Blain-Rozgay and Allison Moffett – was your favorite?

It's the Bible. There are no characters. These were real people going through real events.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The crucifixion of Jesus. It should never cease to move me or anyone else the supreme sacrifice paid so none have to eternally perish.

Any additional comments?

Highly recommend it for those already believers and for those who don't fully understand the Gospel but would like a slightly detailed overview. God's word never returns void so the end result of many reading would most likely be many saved.
