Drivel

This is one of the few audiobooks I stopped listening to. I just couldn't handle it. Very little scriptural support for what seemed to be an endless flow religious phrases. I love Jesus, and I love learning about God, and how to better follow Him. However, this book had almost no support, or point. Or it just took to long to get there.

Wonderful follow up Book to The Devine Conspiracy

One of the most thought provoking books I have ever read. Be careful, after reading this book, you will never look at faith and discipleship in the same way again.

This is a Spiritual Classic

Dallas Willard addresses our longing to Abide in Christ. He gently clears away mistaken assumptions and self-justification to reveal the truly Biblical way of discipleship. Your heart will be filled with desire to follow Christ into deeper union with Him in every day life by being a doer of the Word. This book along with Celebration of the Disciplines are musts for every Christian. May God work in us to will and to do His good pleasure.

actualization with a Christian veneer

I did not finish listening to the book. I did listen for a while hoping it would get better, and in the end, I decided I could spend my time in better ways. in the history of Christianity, the greatest gift we have received is God himself, his empowering presence through his Spirit, thanks to Jesus' blood sacrifice making us able to house this Holiness. Yet this book is centered on man and the position we're given. Very little communication about the one empowering. I was reminded of the self actualization in Christian form. More needs to be said on walking in the Presence.

Revolutionary

This book is both much more and much less than the title suggests. As with many of Dallas Willards titles the content is something much other than the title might suggest. It is much more and much better. It talks very little about the disciplines themselves and of how to implement them, but it talks a great deal on the reason for the disciplines and our attitude toward them. In this it gives much more power to implement the disciplines, but also much more freedom. Indeed, it is a book more about the importance of discipleship as a whole. Dallas' thinking is revolutionary for me. I pray to God to help me to implement what He has shown me in and through this book and this author's witness. Here is a man I want to follow as a mentor to help me make progress in Christ.

Fantastic, Dallas Willard brings great clarity

A brilliant exposition on a lost practice within mainstream Christianity. Dallas Willard has brought clarity to a sometimes mysterious topic and brings it to a practical level in day to day life.

The holding of simplicity and Understanding of God's Truth.

Many authors don't have it right. As for Dallas, I would have to say that his views of the church back then and today and 300 years ago, are so true as to how we are thinking today due to lacking of historical facts back in the biblical times that the church does not teach nor mention due to the idea of it "not being necessary."
I fortunately have a friend who believes in knowing the biblical history is to help us better understand the period in time. Most teaching in the church today is mainly just tradition and not historical for context sake.
