Publisher's summary

You think you know about Islam. But, did you know that Islam teaches that Muslims must wage war to impose Islamic law on non-Muslim states, or that American Muslim groups are engaged in a huge cover-up of Islamic doctrine? These and other "politically incorrect" facts are revealed by Robert Spencer in The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades). Spencer traces the history of Islam, the teachings of the Qur'an, and the Crusades, and reveals the myths and realities related to Islamic law, the treatment of women, and the continuing jihad.

This is a fast-paced, politically incorrect tour that you will not hear about in school or on the evening news, but will give you all the information you need to understand the true nature of the global conflict America faces today.

All meat, no filler

Considering the controversial and politically sensitive subject of this book, the author's strategy was clearly to combat the expected charge of bigotry by almost exclusively quoting the Koran, the news media, history books, and Islamic religious and political leaders such that the bulk of the material is not the author's interpretation, but rather the words of the Koran and the interpretation of its Muslim leaders. Given this almost legalistic style, I will say the redundancy of Koranic scripture can be a bit grinding. After 4 hours of chapter after chapter of quotations calling for violence, intolerance, bigotry, killing, oppression, conquest, torture and jihad I couldn’t believe I was only halfway through the book! However, the book did start looking at historical and current events related to Islam about then, so my interest was renewed. The realistic look at the Crusades was really a gem, having been educated in the liberal tradition, I believed the Crusades to be spontaneous, unjustified acts of European aggression. However, it is interesting to realize that the Crusades were chronologically a response to Muslim aggression, not a cause of it. It is also interesting to think that without the distraction that Crusades created against aggressive Islamic designs on Europe, European civilization may never have had the opportunity to progress securely, and then to flourish to create the culture we live in today... otherwise, no Galileo, Boticelli, Mozart, Shakespeare, Newton, Faraday, Dickens, Curie or Einstein. Overall the book is very informative, if anxiety-provoking. It seems we are facing a single-minded intolerant adversary of militant religionists committed to conquest and subjugation of nonbelievers, and our politically correct tendencies may be a great detriment in assessing this threat and its ability to be negotiated with. The book gives a perspective on the current terroristic and jihadist crisis one will not find in the news. Get it!

Excellent

Its always good to get a more honest opinion that is not gelded by the politically correct. Lots of good analysis and history. Perhaps biased but still more informative than the usual apeasement literature.

Excellent overview of Islam

I love the side by side comparisons between Muhammad and Jesus. He shows how violent Islam can be.

should be required reading in high schools

Anyone who thinks Islam is a peaceful religion, or that 'all religions are the same' needs to read (or listen to) this book. Great content and narration.

Spencer is a genius !

If you could sum up The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) in three words, what would they be?

This is the first book I have read of Robert Spencer and I can report that it will not be the last. The author is a genius. He takes a complicated subject and boils it down to what is logical and what is not. I've got a whole new view of Islam and I now understand why there are terrorists.

A 'Must Read'

This book brought my thinking along to the place where I realize that unless we understand that certain values, such as tolerance, freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, even scientific inquiry, are western values and traditions that we should uphold and defend, we are at risk of losing them.

WOW

This book opens your mind to the true nature of Islam(although there might be a few of that faith that would disagree), it changed my perspective of the religion and its followers. I don't think i will have a "jihad" any time soon but I will definitely be paying better attention to what is going in in that part of the world as well as my own. This book is a must read for any non-believer of Islam. I would rate it 6 stars across the board if there was another one available.

wonderful

We live in a blizzard of falsehood dis- information, which is unfortunately swollowed by the majority of the people. It is wonderfully refreshing to have real information packaged in such a brief and trustworthy form to consider. I actually checked several of the references...

I was particularly appauled by the Judicial determination of "Justice" Higgings in Victoria Australia concerning his brown nosing political correctness. Actually, the Victorian government and it's servile Judiciary has a lot to answer for in many other ways aswell.

Straight talking dialoge has been a rare thing for a long time despite the so called 'Information Age'. Suppression has been the order of the day.

Thankyou very much!

Maxwell
