The only true and unedited telling of the life of Christ - his life and times in historical context, but not lacking the psychology behind his physical being and spirit. Unlike other books seeking to strip Jesus' story to reveal only the human being, Romano Guardini's The Lord gives the complete story of Jesus Christ - as man, Holy Ghost, and Creator. Pope Benedict XVI lauds Guardini's work as providing a full understanding of the Son of God away from the prejudice that rationality engenders. Put long-held myths aside and discover the entire truth about God's only begotten Son.

Romano Guardini is one of my favorite Catholic authors and I return to his books often. His work is always thought-provoking, profound, and practical. I am working my way through THE LORD once more as we begin Lent tomorrow.
The book is an extraordinary treasury you're sure to return to again and again. It is far too rich a resource to be read only once. This is a work of profound theology, yet it is never dry or dull. It was one of Guardini's gifts to make the complex more easily understood while never compromising the truth.
I appreciate having it on audio to accompany the print book. In fact, you might want to get it on Kindle or in print to make your study easier because of the many Bible verses referenced throughout the book.
I recommend THE LORD to every Catholic, along with Guardini's THE ART OF PRAYER, which is one of the most beautiful books I've ever read on the subject. God bless you.
Of the thousand or so books I've read this one is a top ten! It opened my eyes to a new way of seeing Jesus. Content and performance are excellent!
satified to the 'nth' power
Undoubtedly the best unraveling of Revaluations as the climax of a very insightful handling of our Lord and why His purpose had to be as it unfolded. Excellent!!
Only had the audio version but this book is so important, I now own the book as well.
This classic provides short meditations (about 20 minutes) on the life of Christ - motivational and inspiring. Although the length is intimidating, once you start listening, you will know you have discovered a treasure. I finished it during Lent, helping me draw closer to the Lord, and plan to keep it on my phone for periodic re-listens and plan to listen again in its entirety next holy season.
Narration is wonderful. Although ideal for 20 minutes listens given the short chapters, Gordon Greenhill's voice does not tire allowing for much longer listens.
This is not a book easily reviewed! Almost too much at once to analyze , but interesting! I am pondering and I think that is what the author wanted. Your faith will determine the value of the book to you.
