This is not only read very well... the best! It is also such a good read. I read the book, watched the Movie from Netflix, but this was the best. I listen to a lot of books from both Audible, and from I Tunes. I put this book on the very top of the list of books I've read, or listened to. So much history, and such an inspirational work. Like nothing I've ever read. This is a book I will give as a gift to many friend both like minded and non commited Christions / believers in Christ my Lord. No matter your faith, I highly recommed this book to any reader.
I really enjoyed this book when I read it a few years ago, so I decided to try it on Audible. I'm glad I did, I couldn't wait to listen every day! Francine Rivers is a gifted story teller and Kate Forbes did a terrific job of drawing me in.
I highly recommend "The Last Sin Eater" to anyone looking for a satisfying "read".
Excellent story well read and definately worth buying. I know I will listen to this one again and again.
I didn't read the print version.
I loved the interesting turns this story took. The history written in was fabulous.
No I haven't. But would like to!
I think I did both at different times.
I've listened to other Francine Rivers books and enjoyed them. This one was too preachy. I do love Kate Forbes though and always enjoy listening to her. She really fits the characters.
Take out the word for word Bible quotes. The idea of 2 pretty young kids suddenly preaching entire sermons full of long, long quotes from the Bible didn't ring very true. They listened to the Man from God and suddenly they were channeling him.
Kate Forbes draws you into the story. She really fits this type of story. Her narration kept me listening when otherwise I probably would have skipped to the end.
I know I'm a dissenting vote here on this book but it just didn't ring true to me. Real mountain people usually are very much fundamentalist Christians. Apparently not one of these people even owned a Bible. Every word was new to them. I can't imagine a place where people don't have access to at least one Bible. I understand it was a fictional way to present redemption through Christ but it was just way to heavy handed for me. I still can't get past the idea of two kids suddenly giving such extended testimonials and being able to quote so much from memory. I suppose if it was a miracle, then it could happen but it just didn't seem that miraculous to me.
I read this book quite a few years ago and loved it so much I considered it one of the best Christian books I had ever read, so I decided to try the Audible version. While I still loved this book in audio, I guess I have changed a lot since first reading it. I loved the raw emotional journey you go on but this time I really didn't care for the mystical aspects (Lilybet, etc.) and I also didn't like how they went about finding the truth by using dishonest means, even at the very end when they are ringing the death bell to gather everyone. None of those things ruined it for me though. It was still a heartbreaking and beautiful story that I would highly recommend.
Forbes' narrating is amazing! I can't imagine reading it myself and enjoying it as much.
Redeeming Love was maybe my favorite Rivers book so far, but easy to see why this was a winner.
Such expression with the accents--I loved it.
I am a book-aholic, this was my very first audio book and I really enjoyed being able to listen as I worked…(type A personality) So yes, the audio was better for me this go round.
A favorite character would be had to choose…I enjoyed each one (with the exception of the really bad guy)
She was flawless!
Francinse Rivers stories always tug at my heart. Hearing of a time gone by and looking at our current pagan world, makes me feel that there is hope for us yet.
I enjoyed hearing the boldness of the man sent by God. He was so bold and brave.
This was a great book. Very moving, I cried a lot!! I wish I could get all my friends to read or hear this book. I really enjoyed this book. For children to get to this spot. So very great!!!
