What the Critics Say

"Since the first edition was published in 1965, Walter Martin’s The Kingdom of the Cults has been the leading reference work on the major contemporary cult systems. With an emphasis on the active, proselytizing cults, The Kingdom of the Cults is a crucial tool in counter-cult ministry and evangelism. This edition includes substantial new information, including additional chapters on emerging cults and updated information on established movements. Because of their strong influence on the cults, Eastern religions are also examined. Readers now will find further help in combating the ever widening impact of the cults, not only in the United States but overseas. Scholarly yet readable and engaging, The Kingdom of the Cults evaluates each cult’s movement’s history and beliefs, showing how each cult’s teachings contrast with true biblical theology. An invaluable reference work for both scholars and laypeople." (Prayer Foundation)

    "Walter Martin at his Best"
Where does The Kingdom of the Cults rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Excellent explanations and effective an effective apologetic defense of the gospel. Walter Martin nails it. A great read. If you want to see what the difference between "true" Christianity and a cult, this is the book to read. Very clear and concise.

"Base Fraud, who would read or listen to?"
What would have made The Kingdom of the Cults better?

I've been a happy Audible customer for years and appreciate the service, but my experiences with this useless text prompt me to write my first ever commentary on an Audible purchase. This text is completely idiotic even though I concur with the conclusions; it's 35 hours of a less than academically credible author agreeing with himself. It's disturbing to know so many people have endured through such rubbish. If only there were negative-stars to choose in rating as text beneath the consideration of any thinking being.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Nothing by this "author".

What didn’t you like about Maurice England’s performance?

Well presented, though the text is useless.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Kingdom of the Cults?

I'd pull the text from production. At best it's "dated", like "Birth of a Nation" is a dated movie. No credible editor would produce this production.

    Any additional comments?

I have never in my life provided an online critique of anything, but this book is so profoundly, transparently uncritical I felt compelled to warn others against wasting their time.

    "A Classic!"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Kingdom of the Cults to be better than the print version?

Yes, Maurice England does a fantastic job of reading this book!

What did you like best about this story?

    Everything!

What does Maurice England bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

A great voice for a classic book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not posible nearly 40 hours in length!!!

    Any additional comments?

A must for any Christian who may consider the study of comparative religion!
