Publisher's summary

The theme of this four-day retreat: "It's Always Now"

The Now is inseparable from who you are at the deepest level. It is the prerequisite of Being. As you listen to the words on this tape, you participate in the retreat. To "retreat" means to step back - not only from the outer world, but also from the world in your head, the thinking mind. Allow the sound of the words to take you beyond words and beyond sound to the stillness within. Allow the Now to be as it is and so realize the formless essence of the Now as consciousness itself.

Suggested practice: use the lesson throughout the day.

  • Lesson 1: What is your relationship with the present moment?
  • Lesson 2: Get into your body! Practices for inner body awareness.
  • Lesson 3: Using sound as a portal into stillness.
  • Lesson 4: A day spent in silence.
  • Lesson 5: Questions & answers. Being present, amidst the world.
  • Lesson 6: Questions & answers. The power of detachment and surrender.

Blessings on your Journey into your Self.

Show us the way, Eckhart Sifu.

A wonderfully insightful 👏 👌 ❤ guided meditation to take us away from the cognitive fallacies of this industrial world. A world that unconsciously works everyday to make us believe that all which is beautiful in life, and all we poets and spiritual wanderers love, is wrong.

100% loved it with exception to the laughing monk

first off i love eckhart tolle and enjoyed this entire audiobook... but did anyone else hear the annoying guy in the background at the retreat laughing louder than an ass after everything tolle says? the first 4 hours i was like totally accepting the "isness" of the idiot but i really think, after 10 hours of hearing his dramatic reply to every single thing tolle says, i actually felt his incessant laughter was to ridicule and dismiss anything being talked about... who knows. who cares.

there are many moments where tolle makes hilarious jokes and you hear the entire retreat audience laughing and i laugh as well but this guy is seriously stoned or something. i think tolle may have addressed it by pointing out how some zenned out monks laugh at most things they hear, which i guess is his acceptance and alertness to his surroundings (lots of "students" and one noisy monkey).

i still loved "the journey into yourself" and was eventually able to pay no mind to the audible annoyances in listening to an audiobook to learn to pay no mind to such things... but it's actually totally annoying to listen to a 10 hour unabridged audiobook by a genius and hear some drunk heckler buzzing in every 20 seconds, my thanks to the peanut gallery!

    Powerful Stuff

After only a few minutes listening to Eckhart explain statements like "You are not your mind", it was clear to me that he is onto something powerful. I found his approach easy to understand and apply. As others have noted he has a unique voice which I found captivating and soothing. After completing "The Journey Into Yourself" I added three more Tolle titles to my Audible wish list.

That laugh in the crowd is challenging

Sometimes I hear it and think Have no resistance. Other times I want to grab them by the belt and run them off a cliff, hearing the laugh all the way to moment it stops in eternal silence.

    What a joy!

Eckhart Tolle is like a stand up comedian. What a joy it is to hear him interact within his teachings. He takes the most crucial and inherent subject matter, what is most dear to us and brings it to the surface so we can see it and laugh at it and ourselves. He breathes life into our mundane catastrophes and in the end helps us feel held and not so alone.

    like a good warm meal

I adore Eckhart Tolle. I first heard of him from Lisa A. Romano's YouTube channel for emotional guidance. I use this audio book repeatedly for getting through my remote work, which can be painfully tedious. the book is a great tool for quieting the mind and getting a deep spiritual laugh peppered into your hours.

Very informative and funny as well

This is A live Q&A From Austin.
So much awesomeness in one audio book. I took in double speed and it was almost normal speed. Recommended

Best Eckhart Talk Ever-Loud audience member ruins

If you could sum up The Journey Into Yourself in three words, what would they be?

    Calms turbulent thinking

What other book might you compare The Journey Into Yourself to and why?

    New Earth; Power of Now

What does Eckhart Tolle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I actually enjoy his voice now, and his chuckles; I couldn't stand it many years ago. Like he says: "if you're ready to hear the message...." I am ready now and his message is the most calming, quieting, useful lesson I have ever come across.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not in one sitting, but it's easy to pick up at any point; and I will listen to it many times in spite of the inappropriately loud and annoying guy in the audience who laughs LOUD when no one else is and laughs when nothing is funny.

    Any additional comments?

This audiobook should be edited removing the obnoxious audience member and then offered free to all who have purchased previously. I can't believe they didn't remove him early in the talk knowing that this was going to be offered for sale. It was distracting and offensive.

    The 'fierce side of awareness.'

Other reviewers talked about the background laughter as being a distraction. I seem to enjoy the laughter as a reflection of the real humor. I didn't find it distracting; just the opposite, the laugher became a gateway to feeling like I was there.

This discussion talks about the progression of awareness and how it manifests and coexists with thought.

The focus on the 'fierce side of awareness' is especially helpful.

It may be helpful to have a foundation to build on when reading / listening to this book.

    Good stuff.

    👍It’s so great, I think I’ll buy the 12/18...🤓

It’s so great, I think I’ll buy the 12/18 rerelease, just in case my old copy wears out! 🤨 Is this a Sounds True thing? Or an Audible thing? Seems to me they ought to make it clear on the wrapper.
