These days on average, most people would never have the honor or great responsibility of saving another human beings life; not to mention multiple human beings lives.
For me, a book like this give me hope in humanity. A hope much like a candle that gets dimmer and dimmer as the days drag on, but is re-lit to it's former glory upon hearing such a beautiful treasure of a story.
During a time not so long ago, there were many people in need of multitudes of complicated assistance, and there were others courageous enough to open their doors and do their best to provide the much needed aid; risking their own lives to save the lives of those they didn't even know, without a second thought.
It would have been much easier, and better for their health, if the ten Boom family just turned those in need away. The couldn't turn one soul away, and in helping these people they save the lives of many, many human beings.
Corrie ten Boom's story is entrancing and fascinatingly addictive, once you start you can't stop. One family with so much love in their hearts, I could only hope to have the honor of helping one person in my life the way they helped so, so many during theirs.
This is a book not to miss if you like suspense, hearing about the triumphs of good over extreme evil, and anything about WW2 heroics.
IMO-- LISTEN TO THIS BOOK, IT'S AWESOME!
This book helped me to really put suffering in perspective and encouraged me to trust God even when I simply do not understand what is going on around me. This is a tru story and eases from the mondaine life of a 50 year old spincer who lives a rithmic life of ruteen that turns into a world of crushing nightmares. In the middle of this horific picture of human depravity Gods hand is still able to be sceen and His love felt. This book will be read every few years to help me refocus on the important things in life.
We need and this as a read-aloud in grades 6-8 in a small mission school in Papua New Guinea. It was an eye-opening introduction to the horrors of world war 2. It was great again to be reminded of the triumph of love and the gospel of Jesus over evil.
This book is a great reminder to trust and rely on God thru all circumstances. The life experiences of Corrie, and how she was able to overcome loss, grief, anger, pride and selfishness...this is how God wants us to live. One of the best books I have ever read. I'm just disappointed that I didn't read it years ago, but glad that I did now. Highly recommended!
