"This Book will give you HOPE"

These days on average, most people would never have the honor or great responsibility of saving another human beings life; not to mention multiple human beings lives.
For me, a book like this give me hope in humanity. A hope much like a candle that gets dimmer and dimmer as the days drag on, but is re-lit to it's former glory upon hearing such a beautiful treasure of a story.

During a time not so long ago, there were many people in need of multitudes of complicated assistance, and there were others courageous enough to open their doors and do their best to provide the much needed aid; risking their own lives to save the lives of those they didn't even know, without a second thought.
It would have been much easier, and better for their health, if the ten Boom family just turned those in need away. The couldn't turn one soul away, and in helping these people they save the lives of many, many human beings.

Corrie ten Boom's story is entrancing and fascinatingly addictive, once you start you can't stop. One family with so much love in their hearts, I could only hope to have the honor of helping one person in my life the way they helped so, so many during theirs.
This is a book not to miss if you like suspense, hearing about the triumphs of good over extreme evil, and anything about WW2 heroics.

IMO-- LISTEN TO THIS BOOK, IT'S AWESOME!

    "Puts your eyes on God"

This book helped me to really put suffering in perspective and encouraged me to trust God even when I simply do not understand what is going on around me. This is a tru story and eases from the mondaine life of a 50 year old spincer who lives a rithmic life of ruteen that turns into a world of crushing nightmares. In the middle of this horific picture of human depravity Gods hand is still able to be sceen and His love felt. This book will be read every few years to help me refocus on the important things in life.

What made the experience of listening to The Hiding Place the most enjoyable?

Excellently read autobiography of an amazing woman. This will make you laugh, move you to tears and leave your challenged and inspired.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hiding Place?

The arrest of the Ten Boom family is particularly gripping.

Which character – as performed by Bernadette Dunne – was your favorite?

The voice of Ms Dunne is particularly suited to the whole reading - her pronunciation of the Dutch and German places and names is superb.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A middle aged watchmaker discovers the treasures of darkness under the hand of God in extraordinary times of evil.

    "Purchased for Dyslexia Student"
Would you listen to The Hiding Place again? Why?

I purchased this book for a report due in class. The reader does read a little slower, but that really helps with the comprehension of the book. Especially for those with dyslexia. It is a true story that teaches life lessons on making honorable, heroic choices. We will keep this on our Kindle for long road trips.

What other book might you compare The Hiding Place to and why?

Dietrich Bonhoeffer is also true story of a German who gave his life for his country to make heroic choices against Nazism in WWII.

"The Hiding Place: An Excellent Book for all Ages"
What disappointed you about The Hiding Place?

There is nothing disappointing about this book if you are looking for a quality family novel. However, I would recommend that an adult read it and discuss chapters with any child who has been assigned it as a "summer reading" book. Much of the content requires historical discussions and deals with complex content which should not be left to a child's understanding or interpretation. Middle grade level children should be given close supervision and opportunities for open discussion. If a parent is purchasing the book as a school assignment, I recommend that he/she purchase the bound copy for the child and the audible for him/herself and read/study along with the child.

Would you ever listen to anything by Corrie ten Boom again?

    Absolutely.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Bernadette Dunne?

Bernadette Dunne has done the best job that could have been done. I think that she gave the book its true voice.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    I loved the book!!

    Any additional comments?

The book and narrator are a perfect match.

What made the experience of listening to The Hiding Place the most enjoyable?

The story is incredible and the narrator did an outstanding job.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hiding Place?

I don't think I will forget any of it.

Which character ??? as performed by Bernadette Dunne ??? was your favorite?

Betsy is such an amazing woman.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. However, I think it took me three sittings

    Any additional comments?

A story of hope, love and forgiveness. A story of God's grace in a time of suffering. A story that reminds me that He will carry my burdens.

"A beam of light in the darkest of worlds"

This is the autobiography of Corrie Ten Boom, a simple Dutch watch maker caught in the dark nightmare of Nazi occupation. Although she helped and hid Jews in a hidden room, she and her whole family are arrested, sentenced, and imprisoned for food ration card violations (although the Gestapo suspected them of aiding the Jews). In the terrible ordeals that follow, she finds God's strength in the Bible and the spiritually strong examples of her father and sister, Betsy. By the end, Corrie has a depth of understanding about God's love, grace, faith, and sovereign will that we could never know apart from going through such horror ourselves.
The narrator is so good I thought Miss Ten Boom was actually speaking.

"Reread and enjoyed after many years"

I read this book when I was very young. Reread it recently (thanks to an Audiobook sale!) and found it very well-written and compelling. I was recently in the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C, and Corrie Ten Boom's name was on a list (along with a large number of Dutch people) of those who made great sacrifices to help the Jews. It is a wonderful story and a reminder of what a small group of dedicated people can do.
