When you pray, are you talking to a God who exists? Or is God nothing more than your "imaginary friend", like a playmate contrived by a lonely and imaginative child?
When author Sam Harris attacked Christianity in Letter to a Christian Nation, reviewers called the book "marvelous" and a generation of readers - hundreds of thousands of them - were drawn to his message. Deeply troubled, Dr. Ravi Zacharias knew that he had to respond.
In The End of Reason, Zacharias underscores the dependability of the Bible along with his belief in the power and goodness of God. He confidently refutes Harris's claims that God is nothing more than a figment of one's imagination and that Christians regularly practice intolerance and hatred around the globe.
If you found Sam Harris' Letter to a Christian Nation compelling, this audiobook is exactly what you need. Dr. Zacharias exposes "the utter bankruptcy of this worldview." And if you haven't read Harris' book, Ravi's response remains a powerful, passionate, irrefutably sound set of arguments for Christian thought. The clarity and hope in these words will reach out to listeners who know and follow God as well as to those who reject God.

Yes, good for people who hate reading. Philosophy is often dry on paper. This has the feel of a classroom lecture. A book would be good to highlight memorable points. Audio is hard for note taking, good for quick learning.
His knowledge of religion like Hinduism, Atheism, Christianity and Islam are unparalleled. With respect, he demolishes falsehoods.
...Rovi Zacharias was well performed.
The end of reason
Great book, I plan to buy several just give away!
College English professor who loves classic literature, psychology, neurology and hates pop trash like Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey.
via youtube in his talks and debates for some time now and especially respect his response to the vitral and hatred that spews forth from the "new atheists," headed up by Dawkins, Dennett, Harris and Hitchens. This book is the encapsulation of that argument against this false attack on Christianity and is a must read for the Christian in our current times.
This is one of the best books I've ever listened to! It is a must listen to for anyone who is trying to understand God!
The End of Reason is a very effective rebuttal to the hypocritical and tyrannical stances of those who rabidly spew verbal waste in their quest of reviling a God that they don't want to exist. They can inflict no harm to God himself so they seek dictatorial and tyrannical methods akin to Pol Pot, Hitler, and Stalin on those who believe to attempt to quite them and those who correctly refuse to accept their empty, false and delusional stance. Ravi Zacharias brings reason while the opposition regardless of the soundness of his rebuttal, will refuse sound thinking and reason.
Ravi is fabulous in exposing the new atheism as bogus.
Facts that are accessible and persuasive.
I'm only half way through the book but I'm very pleased. The author is one of my favorites.
He allowed me to multitask. I could listen as I do dishes or fold laundry. My Husband listened with me as well.
Ravi does a fantastic job of pointing out a great many facts that atheists seem to want to forget or only paint half stories about, such as Hitler being a Catholic, which assuredly is not telling the whole story.
'The difference between someone who "calls" himself or herself a Christian and yet kills and slaughters and an atheist who does the same thing is that the Christian is acting in violation of his or her own belief, while the atheist's action is the legitimate outworking of his or her belief.'
Ravi quotes atheists such as Peter Singer (professor of philosophy at Princeton) who believes that "a pig is of more value than a child who has a disability" to point out the heartless results of a Godless civilization. And atheist Sam Harris "If I had a magic wand with which to eradicate either religion or rape, I would choose to eradicate religion." Simply lays bare the insane hypocrisy of the new atheism movement and it's religious leaders.
The hypocrisy and bigotry of "new atheism" and their disciples is thoroughly brought to light as Ravi Zacharias does a amazing job just stating reality to you as it is today and historically.
The book is one of the best apologetic books I've listened to and is one that every person of any religion should read - very powerful and honest.
I loved listening to Ravi's messages online and just had to get one of his books.
I heard Ravi talk at my High School back in the early 90s and so I thought he would provide insight to the Atheists of today. However he plays the emotional card often. He started to lose me when he said that the logical end of atheism lead him to attempt suicide, sorry but give me a break. Then he introduced Hitler as an atheist, had he done a simple google search will show that Hitler was raised Catholic and in his writings shows that he believes he is carrying out God's will. The moral compass question came up over and over and over again the fact that Atheists have no moral compass, however they probably process morality day-to-day the same way we Christians do: by considering their actions, weighing the consequences, and deciding whether they are doing more harm than good to themselves and other people.
I really wanted better ammunition to discuss God with atheist but this did not help.
"Refutes? Where's the concrete evidence?"
What a nightmare.
"Very good arguments"
