The King James Version of the Holy Bible is the most influential and widely published book ever written. It has been translated into over 2,000 languages and is still the world’s best-selling book every year. After its original publication in 1611, the King James Bible quickly became the standard for English-speaking Protestants. Its flowing language and prose rhythm has had a profound influence on the literature of the past 400 years.
English speakers around the world are praising this new recording of the King James Bible by British narrator Christopher Glyn, who draws on 35 years of experience as a Christian narrator and broadcaster to bring you this expressive reading of the King James Bible, which captures the beauty and power of God’s Word in easy-to-understand language.

This is one of the best audio bibles so far, I love the KJV, and because of the "old English" and the rich content of the bible, I like to read it slowly, so my comprehension is complete.
This audio bible narrates clear and slower than other audio bibles that I've listened to, Christopher Glyns voice is a pleasure to listen to, without back ground drama sounds and music, keeps me perfectly attentive. I highly recommend this for serious bible lovers and students that don't need God's word cluttered up.
I was worried about this audio not being broken up chapter by chapter or even book by book, and in some situations it is small problem, yet, I'm finding that it is overcome by the convenience of the players and easier to handle the smaller amount of files, I don't think it is such a problem to loose a star over.
Jesus! Because He is God & loves us soooooo much that He died for us.
Can't pick out just one scene, this book is full of God's love for His creation.
This book did and does make me laugh and cry, angry and happiness, full of wisdom, drama, life, death, love, hate, sex, war, peace, joy, travel, suspense, business, mystery, crime, law etc. there is something for everyone in this collection of books
Get to know God's word for yourself, by listening to the whole bible, and don't just take other peoples word for it, I am surprised at how much new stuff I find each time I read or listen to the bible.
Christopher Glyn reads the entire Bible with just the right amount of emotion, not over the top by any means, yet with enough feeling that he helps the listener learn the meaning in the passages.
My review is not a criticism of the bible itself or Glyn's reading of it, but rather Audible's formatting. It is impossible to navigate this audiobook. It comes in 8 units each of which are about 8 and a half hours long. I don't know about anyone else, but does anyone sit down and listen to the bible from the beginning to the end? A bible reader wants to be able to flip to the relevant chapter and verse of the bible and read that part, instead of having to wade through 74 hours to get to it. If I download it into iTunes, I can't access the chapter breakdown. Audible doesn't have an audible app for use on desktop. I contacted Customer service and they were nice but couldn't even understand my query and wanted me to buy the new Fire Kindle HD8 to read this book. My husband is blind and finds it difficult to use Kindle or the audible app on the smartphone because their voiceover functionality is not good and it also changes all the time in the name of 'updates'. This is yet another thing that could be so easy, but companies make it difficult for no good reason. It makes me so angry that companies like Audible grab so much of the market share yet give so little thought to how their consumers actually use their products. You are alienating your readers, especially the blind ones.
I don't know but any audio book from any company BESIDES AUDIBLE
Well of course! I like his slightly Welsh accent
Is this question real?
Naxos Audiobooks have better readers and a better system of letting their customers download their books. It is broken down into relevant chunks (e.g. by chapter) to make the reading easier without having to use proprietary software. I love Naxos. I hate Audible.
Christopher Glyn has a great voice and did a superb job of narrating this audiobook. I think it is a great resource for an Audible library. This Audible book is also a good way to read the Bible more if you have the app. The Audible app records your listening statistics and by this you can keep track of how much you have read in total, each day, week, month, and year. It can be motivating to see your total reading time and want to keep adding to that, and try to improve your times with each month or year.
The Audiobook consists of 10 parts, each about 8 hours long.
The things that you might not like about this audible book are that it is inconvenient to find a certain book or chapter of the Bible to read. Each of the 10 parts are not divided by Bible books and chapters. If you want to find say Romans 8, you can't just skip to it, but will have to listen until you find the place and then make a bookmark. You will have take to take time as you listen to make many bookmarks before you can easily find the place where the books and chapters start.
The other problem, at least for me, is that there is music at the start and close of every gospel chapter. The gospels are not divided like a regular book where each new chapter brings a new scene; some continue the same teachings or narratives. Thus, the music can be distracting in certain areas. Both the music and also the music being at the start and close of each chapter were not something that I liked.
This bible is about 86 hours long. It is split into 10 about 8 hour sections.
With no table of contents how can I find the book I want to hear.
I can download the audio bible for free on the internet.
I expected a better organized presentation.
...Fear God, and give glory to him... [Revelation 14:7]
Great God's Word!
I like the way how he read it. Voice is nice. And I like that it's not too fast reading. Even though Audible allow speed changes.
I am listening to this book almost every night in bed when I go to sleep. During the first couple of weeks after purchase I played the book every night all night long. You can't finish the whole Bible in one sitting :)
I'm a mom of two boys, a dog, a heard of cats and a bearded dragon. i am also a wife and a business owner. Wine is my drug of choice.
The top. I read a daily bible reading. This has helped me keep on track. I have always said I would read the bible, this made it easy to keep that life goal.
Well, god of course
It helps me spiritually
I am 44 and I love to read and listen to the bible and other devotional books
Yes,I love to read the Bible but Sometimes I would rather Just relax and Listen
The king James Bible can not be compared it is the best Bible I have come across so far
Sometimes when I listen to someone else do the reading, it helps me understand whats going on, And I can sit back and put myself in that time I think its really cool.
I wish I had read this years ago. It would've saved me from so many mistakes. Better late than never.
For people unsure of whether or not they can handle 80+ hours... I had determined that I would listen to it in a month. As a dog walker, that's probably easier for me than most. Still though, you can actually listen to it at a slightly accelerated speed because Glyn is such a spectacular narrator that you don't lose articulation...
I don't want to say there are some parts that you can fast forward through, but in the Old Testament you sort of can get away with 3x speed when they're listing family trees or giving measurements of things...
But enough about the speed settings. I'm only pointing it out in case your on the fence because of the amount of time it will take to listen.
The listen is well worth the time, especially if you do it as consecutively as possible.
It's amazing that this book transcribed by so many different people never contradicts itself -- not even New Testament vs the Old. The New is basically a clarification and deepening of understanding for all set forth in the old...
If you're a devout non-believer, you should read this to at least know what it is you're being devout against. But, if you're simply a non-believer that's curious, I suggest listening, It may just change your life.
"Superb paced reading."
This is the third version of the KJV I now have, the Scourby was the standard reading, this has replaced it because the pace is perfect, the emphasis is, to my taste, just right finding the balance between drama and detail which is so much a matter of timing. It would be unjust not to acknowledge the Pure Voice recording as an excellent version for those who find a single narrator wearing. I don't and so find this ticks every box. Superb.
"Simple, powerful word of God."
This is a straight forward reading of Scripture. The power is not in shallow dramatics but in the truth. The reading is clear so listening is easy. The reading is also with understanding. Excellent.
I’ve had the Scourby reading for many years, and since the KJV has been my principal English version, it’s been on heavy-duty rotation. When I purchased the Lutheran Study Bible by Concordia Publishing House, which uses the ESV, I was out shopping for another audiobook to compliment it. I listened to the Max McLean version available here on Audible, encouraged by the high 4.7 rating. Not even getting to the end of Genesis, I found that his reading felt rushed, and to top it off, I don’t think the audio quality of the recording itself was up to snuff. Once I had started thinking about this while listening, I knew it our relationship was beyond repair. One isn’t supposed to pay attention to stuff like this after pressing ”play”.
So I was back looking for an audiobook of the Bible, and the high rating of this version caught my attention, and after sampling it, I was sold. So was the audiobook. And reading through the reviews here I can only join to rather harmonious choir singing the production’s praises. The recording itself is of high quality, and Glyn’s reading is, well, perfect. Considering that one has to listen to a voice for over 80 hours if listening from start to finish, Glyn is so pleasurable that I’d switch that verb from ”has to” to ”gets to”. (Do it mid-sentence, I dare you, and it’ll make for some James Joyce-worthy brainwork.) His voice and diction are clear and pleasing to the ear, and his sense of pace as well as rhythm is second to none, whatever the category of audiobooks. There’s no pomp and circumstance these productions often have that makes my toes curl.
Not only this, he succeeds in bringing out different voices without overdoing it. There’s deep emotion in the Bible, vociferous and unrelenting, and Glyn’s reading captures it. I think this will become my go-to audio Bible, if it isn’t already — it’s that good.
"Audio king James bible."
Beautiful to llston.. Also comforting.. Draw you closer to God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit... The three in one... God bless those who worked effortlessly to bring the feature into bien... Not forgetting the publisher and the narrator who reads it so harmonically..
Many thanks in Jesus name!!! x
"Excellent audio bible"
I am reading the bible for the first time, have never read it before and this book is narrated beautifully. I am going to enjoy this for a long time. Devout and newbie like me I am sure will enjoy :-)
"A brilliant listen."
This a brilliant book. If you are not religious or even if you are, you will enjoy it.I would recomend it to all.
Tao te ching. Full of wisdom and a must listen or read.
I have not.
This book sent shivers up my spine. I felt as if i was part of it.
Everyone needs to believe in something. Everyone can gain knowledge through great books. This is simply a great listen.
As others have already pointed out, you are unable to find a specific book as there is no index. Which makes this version completely useless for study purposes.
I contacted customer services and they were not really interested. All people they said was that I should contact the publisher, not really much help.
Sad as I was looking forward to using this audio book for study and it might as well be in a foreign language, because without an index it's useless for the purpose it was bought.
One really unsatisfied customer.
Always as its easy to understand and listen than holding a large book you can read God's words wherever you are
New testament as old was harder to understand with all the old words
All the evil things that some people may not know about what happened to jesus before his death
Well written and spoken would recommend
