"Strobel's appraoch is hard-hitting, clear, and persuasive." — (Christian Research Journal)
"Despite the rather heavy matters discussed, this book is easy to read. The analogies and anecdotes are very helpful in explaining a deep subject on an understandable level." — (The Conservative Theological Journal)
"...the book incorporates Strobel's journalistic skills to tackle several of the most persistent objections to belief in Christ....The Case for Faith is for readers who may be attracted to Jesus, but still have formidable intellectual barriers with emotional undertow inhibiting them from fully committing their lives to Christ....As one who was a spiritual skeptic for many years, Strobel relates well to those who object to the faith on emotional and intellectual grounds...." — (Christian Retailing)
"When Strobel interviews his subjects, he approaches the questions just as a non-believer would, and he's not afraid to press until he gets a satisfactory answer....The Case for Faith will provide the tools you need to remove...obstacles from a non-believers path to faith in Christ." — (Singing News)
I downloaded several of Less Strobel's books and all are good, but this is by far the best! He really tackles the toughest questions facing a Christian (or skeptic or unbeliever) and digs up some very good answers. If you only read one of Lee Strobel's books, this is the one I recommend!
This book was great information for both new and long time Christians. Apologetic s is new to me; a long time Christian and I found this book gave some good answers to the hard questions we of the Christian faith have been ask. I think most of us leaned on the fact that we are don't have to have all the answers and we do take things on faith and only God knows. Lee's interview method help to make it understandable and introduced you to many new people in this field for future reading. Life is short, it is nice to know what's next!
This is one of my favourite written books and now it's one of my most liked audio books. Lee Strobel raises most of the very sticky questions that people stumble over when it comes to a reasoned faith in the Bible and the goodness of God. He interviews capable individuals with well reasoned and evidence based answers rather than comfortable responses.
Dick Hill does a great job of reading the book without the intense Chicago accent for which Lee is known.
All in all, a great listen for those who want answers.
I didn't read the print version
Other books by Lee Strobel are on the same footing as this one. Lee sets up a series of questions about faith, Christ, etc, and answers them, one by one, by interviewing experts on the questions. He clearly outlines the qualifications of each participant, and does a great job at thoroughly erasing any doubts.
He's wonderful with all of his enunciations! I've read a review or 2 on here about how he wasn't very good, but surely they must jest. As a general rule, there are very few books that I listen to at x1 speed because almost any book at that speed is too slow and that's not the fault of the narrator. I'm sure they have to go very slow to relate to the lowest common denominator readers' ability to comprehend the story. That's what makes the app so great because you can speed them up!
There is no atheist in a fox hole; and there shouldn't be any outside of one either after reading this book!
I love Lee Strobel's work! He's the man! He answers questions that I personally have on my faith journey.
One aspect of the book was that the author presents typical objections to Christianity and then delves into those specific topics with experts in the field of apologetics such as Norman Geisler and Ravi Zacharias. The discourse in the interview is very interesting and stands unique from other typical books on apologetics.
Overall, the book is about apologetics - defending the Christian faith. All of the material was excellent and presented in an engaging way.
The author. Dick Hill used a "different voice" for characters in the text. Most of the time it was entertaining. At some points it seemed exaggerated, which is my only real complaint.
My thoughts exactly
The writer has really done the research on the questions real people with doubts ask. For years I have tried to pull these answers out of believers, not in argument but to understand. I know not everyone is schooled in apologetics but "Just believe" has always been a painfully insincere response. The writer acknowledges and speaks for every doubt in a reasonably skeptical manner. His writing is very compassionate and reasonable.
It gave me what I have been searching for for years. I don't think I cried physically, but the way he asked the question and the doubts he expressed were as if he had pulled them out of my own mind. For years I have felt like an alien trying to read the bible and go to church and feeling like no one else had quite the same doubts. Sure there are many Atheists and skeptics, but I was the only one trapped between wanting to believe and not being able to. As if some people were born being able to believe and I wasn't one of them. This book has validated my desire to believe and my struggle with doubts. Every doubt I could think of is addressed. No stone is left un-turned, no question is left un-asked or dubiously answered.
Definitely required reading for anyone struggling with doubts, and even for those without current doubts to be prepared when the questions come. This book promotes a faithful heart and speaks to a doubtful mind.
You are what you feed your mind...so, feed it the good stuff!!!
Another fabulous book by Lee Strobel...another must read...his ability too investigate and research topics of the Christian faith is amazing. You will thoroughly enjoy this book!
"Very good book."
All questions and answers are to the point and they make a lot of sense. There was no sugar coating and direct and challenging questions were asked and answered.
"Stimulating, Challenging, Well worth the long long Listen!"
Phew this was a long listen! But so worth it! Great interviews with some gritty and highly intelligent responses that are connected fantastically to life...
