The New American Bible has accomplished this in response to the need of the church in America today. It is the achievement of some 50 biblical scholars, the greater number of whom, though not all, are Catholics. In particular, the editors-in-chief have devoted 25 years to this work. The collaboration of scholars who are not Catholic fulfills the directive of the Second Vatican Council, not only that "correct translations be made into different languages especially from the original texts of the sacred books", but that, "with the approval of the church authority, these translations be produced in cooperation with separated brothers" so that "all Christians may be able to use them".

This is a good translation of the New Testament, and it is the one used in Catholic liturgies in the USA, which makes it especially useful to me.
The narration is excellent: pace, expressiveness.
There are two drawbacks. Audible inhalations detract from the quality of the narration, and section headings are read along with the biblical text. I find the latter to be especially distracting.
I always wanted to read the Bible, but I have difficulty reading it. I had a Stroke 18 years ago and I don't remember what I read a minute ago. This reading to me, I remember....funny isn't it, but it is true.
I have not gotten read, but the Nativity is my favorite as well as the death and resurection.
I will listen to it over and over again.
This is one of my favorites due to the clarity of sound, the pacing, and the sub-headings that are spoken as you move from one section to another.
Terrific, clear sound that allows focus on what is being said. His voice doesn't get in the way like some narrators.
It is very easy to understand! when I read the Bible or any book I can't hold my concentration so this is really a blessing for me from God. Thank You!
wonderful to listen to. the voice is perfect. which is most important to me. i had recently heard one where the voice was much to deep and i did not like listening to it. but this is perfect.

Excellant to listen to
The narrator has a great sounding voice and makes it very interesting to listen to.
Nothing he does an outstanding job.
I couldn't because it's too long, although I think it could have been combined into 7 audio books instead of 14.
This audio volume could be better if there was a dictionary section included as in the St. Joseph's bible. Some people might not understand some terms used.
The content, of course, is great, the reader spoke very clearly. The only complaint I would have is when you were occasionally told to change the CD...couldn't they have adjusted the Audible file?
I would not recommend this version. This would be much improved if you could easily reference passages. I accidentally hit back a couple of times and the recording backed up to the beginning of the book - sometimes an hour's worth of listening. Recording is very inflexible.
This is the first time I read the New American Bible version. I guess I just prefer the King James rendition.
I do not like this edition and wish to return it if possible please now
"Disappointing and monotonous"
I don't think so. He's the reason I found it disappointing and monotonous.
Only if I was in training to push the pain barrier in preparation for the marathon of listening to Joseph Goldstein.
"Really easy to listen to-nice and clear"
A wonderful Bible reading, nice and clear to have reading out on my laptop, thanks for this great 'Book'
The truth about life on earth!
well worth the money, best audio I can find on the Bible
Buck Ford's rendition of the NAB is very good. Although American, his accent is mild and all Catholic listeners should appreciate this work. I'd would have given 5 stars but the Inspired By... Bible series is in a different class. However you might prefer this non-dramatized version. Recommended.
