Publisher's Summary

Manhattan Medium Thomas John has been hailed as "the Hollywood psychic with the highest batting average" by The Hollywood Reporter and a psychic medium with "an impressive connection that impresses even the most skeptical minds" by The Examiner. Now he shares what he's seen and heard on the Other Side.

What happens when we die? Renowned psychic medium Thomas John is one individual who is able to answer that question with a fair degree of certainty because of his special ability to communicate with the Other Side. Through his communications with the dead, he has learned a number of life lessons that he shares in this audiobook.

John shares with us 15 fascinating stories of what happens when clients ask him to contact their dead friends and relatives. In each story, we learn about life on the other side and the lessons the deceased have for the living. Each chapter is a felicitous combination of good story telling and healing wisdom. Among the lessons are:

1. The dead understand what our ultimate purpose is on earth - and they are eager to share their knowledge.
2. Our dead family and friends are with us and watch over us.
3. When we die, we begin again. We continue to grow and evolve on the Other Side.
4. We are accountable for the way in which we live our lives. Karma is real.
5. The dead are capable of tremendous and profound forgiveness.

    "Fairly standard stuff"

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook, but it was much the same as others I have listened to. Not much humor or emotion. But it was an easy listen for a busy day.

    "A Collection of Anecdotes"
Would you try another book from Thomas John and/or Jeff Cummings?

No.. I don't like Jeff Cummings interpretation of female voices. I find them annoying. Thomas John is a good story teller but I was looking for more than a collection of psychic anecdotes.

Has Never Argue with a Dead Person turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. But I was seeking more meaning behind the stories. There was nothing to distinguish this from fiction.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    Yes.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    No.

    Any additional comments?

This is not a a bad book, and it's not poorly written, but it might as well have been a collection of short stories and was not at all what I was looking for. I was hoping for something with more meaning and insight.

"Will be asking Audible for a refund."

I listened to this book hoping it would get better with each passing chapter. The narrator was overly dramatic in parts and portrayed women in a high falsetto voice that became more irritating as the book went on. The book is just under 6 hours but it felt as tho it was significantly longer.

The content held nothing new or insightful. In parts clients were portrayed as being silly or an inconvenience. The author comes across as having an inflated ego Maybe it's just the narrator but I'm not interested enough to check the book out in print.

    Save your money.
That was 6 hours of my life I won't get back.

    "Narration ruins the material"
If you could sum up Never Argue with a Dead Person in three words, what would they be?

I've seen Thomas John during large group readings and what he does definitely impresses. I'll remain skeptical, while still hopeful that there isn't some trickery going on. He definitely has come up with facts that people confirm with great emotion, things that one would not find on the internet. Therefore, it was fun to listen to his story and other stories based on his experiences and past readings.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I believe this narrator is the same person who narrated children's stories that I used to listen to in the car with my kids. He attempts to transform adults into cartoon-like voices. Women all come off as bimbos and he uses a falsetto that is insulting. In fact, nearly all of his female characterizations seem to indicate that either he, or the author, think that women are profoundly idiotic. I found myself wanting to hear the material but was so angered by the narration that I could hardly stand to listen a moment longer. Bad choice. The book might be great, but the narration completely kills it.

    "Ick-Save your credits"

It's was hard to listen to this narrator. He certainly was enthusiastic, but more fitting for a children's book. His impersonation of a woman's voice was grating. Of course, he possibly was trying to make up for the lackluster story and figured sounding like Cinderella's evil step-sisters in unison couldn't hurt. I didn't make it past the fourth chapter and only because I don't give up easily.

    "Not what I expected."

The stories were very believable. I hoped for more of what it is like to pass over, do we travel through a tunnel ? Do we find ourselves looking at our dead body? For me this book raised many questions but provided few answers.

    Any additional comments?

It was amazing to hear about how the author handled situations when he was sure he was correct yet his clients felt strongly otherwise, at least until they... Favorite quote (something like this): "You come into this life having forgotten everything about the afterlife and who you really are just to have to figure it out all over again during this life and during your current circumstances." (Excuse the inexact wording...)

    "Believe"

You really cannot NOT believe after listening to these stories. The only odd thing was that I kept wanting to lay down and then I would want to sleep but I would still be hearing the messages. some of them were delivered by my own relatives and I could see them clearly in the place where we were. I had visits from my mother, my dad, my cousin and my grandmother. It made it hard to get through the book I. I had to keep going back and listen again and try to stay awake. Very odd but entertaining. Usually I listen to books while doing other things. This one I didn't get much done!
