Publisher's summary

Why would anyone think Jesus never existed? Isn't it perfectly reasonable to accept that he was a real first century figure? As it turns out: No.

Nailed sheds light on 10 beloved Christian myths, and, with evidence gathered from historians across the theological spectrum, shows how they point to a Jesus Christ created solely through allegorical alchemy of hope and imagination; a messiah transformed from a purely literary, theological construct into the familiar figure of Jesus - in short, a purely mythic Christ.

Very educational

Very educational! This book brought to light many things that I had only suspected prior to experiencing it.

Eye opening

The author is a great orator and persuasive writer. He methodically lays out his argument and does a great job. The title could have been less provocative. I finished the book convinced that mythicists maintain a very respectable view—they may very well be right and the implications are staggering.

Absolutely awesome book!!

Great read/listen!! I've listened to it about 6 times already and I've fact checked it with the Bible as well. I wasn't much of a believer in the actual existence of Jesus, and this book just confirmed my non-belief. Two thumbs up in my opinion. 👍👍

it's pretty obvious when you hear it laid out

This is a great look on the flip side of religion. You can't talk to a Christian on these matters without stubborn refusal to hear your arguement. I love one of the quotes early in the book that states its easy to make a man believe, but nearly impossible to make him not believe. There are moments in the book that are hard to vision without laying it out in front of you or listening to again, but don't let that prevent you from looking into this thoroughly thought-out and researched piece of work.

Jesus Myth

The majority of modern New Testament scholars acknowledge that the Gospels are anonymous, contradictory, and altered. Just a few hundred years ago, such claims would never be considered. And if anyone did, their career and their life would be in jeopardy. Thankfully New Testament scholarship has progressed beyond such dogmatic practices. And a growing number of scholars have considered the possibility, beyond mere alteration, that Christianity may be based on a myth. Considering all other myths that inspired other religions and the already flimsy accounts in the Gospels, David Fitzgerald shows that Jesus likely never existed at all.

Very compelling and evidence based.

David answered many of my dilemmas with Christianity and did it with referenced facts and organized into a coherent narrative.

Fascinating, well researched, and compelling

This is a wonderfully constructed case for the mythisist's position. I highly recommend this for believers and non-believers alike.
