Publisher's summary

Why would anyone think Jesus never existed? Isn't it perfectly reasonable to accept that he was a real first century figure? As it turns out: No.

Nailed sheds light on 10 beloved Christian myths, and, with evidence gathered from historians across the theological spectrum, shows how they point to a Jesus Christ created solely through allegorical alchemy of hope and imagination; a messiah transformed from a purely literary, theological construct into the familiar figure of Jesus - in short, a purely mythic Christ.

Well done.

I now have more information to debate with others about and even more reasons to be a skeptic. I enjoyed this book.

mythicism at its best.

Second time listening to this audiobook, so much information I ended up purchasing the hardback book so I can highlight and take margin notes. Enlightening!

An interesting listen and approachable.

I am still reading Richard Carrier more scholastic work on Mythicism and Fitzgerald is refreshingly succinct. However, I feel like the evidence makes a better argument for mundane adoptionism that became more mythologize than non-existence. But that could be the limits of my understanding more than the fault of the author.

Good

Systematicically and effectively breaks down the existence of the fabled christ. Well written and well-spoken, with the exception that the reader sounds kind of bland. Still, a good read and listen. I highly recommend picking it up.

Well researched history

This book is a careful dissection of religious Christian claims of history. Eye-opening research that I am interested to know but do not have time to do myself. What would the world look like if everyone knew the truth? Thanks for this great read!

Nailed It

I found this work exceptionally helpful, and insightful. I have read several texts on the quest for the Historic Jesus, and this one absolutely knocks it out of the park.

Cliff notes version of the historicity of Jesus

Loved this. Easy listen, quick, succint, to the point. Lays out the case simply in a matter of fact way.

Fascinating

A very stimulating book. There was much food for thought. The author should have let a professional narrator read the book. He spoke too quickly and had poor enunciation. I played the book at 3/4 speed - which is an option on my Audible phone ap. The slower speed helped. Regardless, I found the book to be of real value.
