Publisher's summary

Dr. Elisa Medhus never believed in life after death. As an accomplished physician, she placed her faith in science. All of that changed after her son Erik took his own life and then reached out from the other side. Intimate, heartbreaking, and illuminating, this audiobook takes listeners on an incredible journey from grief and skepticism to healing and belief. Based on Medhus's wildly popular blog, Channeling Erik, My Son and the Afterlife provides answers to the most universal questions of being human. At once tragic and uplifting, Erik speaks from the other side with candor, wisdom, and depth as he describes his own experiences and provides new answers about the nature of souls, death, and the afterlife - answers that have the potential to change our lives forever.

Inner Peace, Enlightenment and Excitement!

Would you listen to My Son and the Afterlife again? Why?

Yes, because there was a great deal of enlightening information in it. I have watched many of Erik's videos, read a great deal of blog information on his site "Channeling Erik", and listened to a great deal of the audio archives that include recordings of Erik helping people all around the world that call in to ask for help. Jamie and Elisa do a great deal of work while helping use their gifts to help Erik help people in need.

What was one of the most memorable moments of My Son and the Afterlife?

Learning about the afterlife and the answers to many deep questions I have had more many years in my life. Love and Fear being the two root human emotions. More healthy ways to love yourself and others. God loves us unconditionally and non judgmentally. There is other life forms out there that are more intelligent than us and are waiting for us to raise our levels of consciousness before they make their presence known (You Tube video with Erik). They don't want a relationship based by fear.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved listening to stories of how Erik was while in the human form. Erik had a special relationship with his mother that was similar to my mother and I. I appreciate hearing stories of him joking and having fun with his mom. Most of all, I appreciate Elisa making contact and staying in contact with him in the Afterlife.

Any additional comments?

First of all I'd like to say that I was accidentally on purpose guided to a You Tube channel with Eric talking with Jamie and his mother Alisa Medhus. I was reading "Conversations with God", and God mentioned looking for a book which talked about a mother looking for answers to her son's death (suicide) and the afterlife. I don't recall what the book was called, but the subject pulled me in.

While searching for the book, I came across Erik,Jaime, and Elisa on YouTube. Once I started, I couldn't stop. The dialogue between Eric and his mother through Jamie was intoxicating. Not only did Erik answer a lot of questions that I had to ask about the after life and the meaning of life etc, he also complimented the book "Conversations with God" without even mentioning it. So it was a perfect compliment in my opinion. It really open my eyes on a much deeper level of thinking and in a much simpler way of looking at life.

This experience has helped relieve a lot of stress off of my shoulders due to the fact that I don't have to worry about a judgmental God that is going to throw me in Hell because I indulge in one or more of the pleasures in life. I have always known in my gut, that religion has been manipulated by man to scare and control us. I have been on a journey to seek the truth. This year, through a series of books like this one, Conversations with God, The Fifth Agreement and many documentaries along with YouTube videos....I have finally found the truth!

Since my experience on YouTube with Erik, he has come to me and my wife in various different ways. One of the times I was at a friends house talking about him and I'm 99 percent sure it was him in the room somehow revealing himself to the cat. My friend's cat was totally into a portion of the couch and I've never seen a cat act like that before. My friend knows his cat really well and stated that he's never seen his cat act like that before so we accepted the fact that there was probably a spirit there and it was probably was Erik. So we went with it and so did the cat twice. He has come to me at work and while smoking. I can feel his presence and he identifies himself with a really cool blue smoke. He makes it dance while also defying the wind patterns outside.

I would say that the biggest thing besides learning that our God is a non judgmental God, life after death, and being able to communicate with spirits that want to communicate with you/help you ..... I'd say is the concept of learning that there are two basic human emotions. These are Love and Fear. I try to ask myself if this emotion based by love or fear. If it is fear, I have to let it go. I have no room for it in my consciousness. Everyone in this world and universe deserves unconditional love. If we all focus on love the world will become a much better place.

BTW: My wife and I have a reading scheduled with Jaime and look forward to listening to Erik again.

Thank you for all your hard work Elisa, Jaime and Erik. You guys are paving the way for inner peace and love!

Amazing book!!

I have always been a spiritual person so much of this book is conceptually familiar to me. But there are a lot of new ideas and concepts in this book that I had not thought of. It’s hard to put into words how enlightening and amazing this book is and I cannot recommend it highly enough. For those who seek spiritual enlightenment, this is the book for you. Now I am going to read the second book written by Erik through a translator.

I gave up listening. Read the book

I have watched many of Erik's YouTube videos and read the blog, both which are amazing and fascinating. Erik has even pranked me a couple of times. I've been looking forward to the book. But I found listening to the narrator switch back and forth between characters by saying "me" and "Erik" constantly to be very irritating. It would have been much easier to listen to it if there was simply a difference in the narrator's voice or by using a male and a female reader. That being said the reader she had a nice voice though the narration was pretty slow. Too bad because the story would appeal to many.

loved it

If you could sum up My Son and the Afterlife in three words, what would they be?

This books great

What did you like best about this story?

This book helped me so much as I lost my 27 yr old son in a car accident 5 months ago and long to know answers about if he is okay and where he went and if he is happier then before and if he is with us and watching over us.

Which scene was your favorite?

No favorite loved it all as Eric speaks he talks like my son Jesse did lol like a sailor and the way he talks about himself reminded me so much of my son that I spent a lot of time laughing and a lot of time crying I have told my other children they need to read this book it gave me a new understanding of the afterlife!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Made me do Both:)

Excellent! A true gift.

Reading this book was like being with a loved one. And, the journey of reading the book ended all too quickly. I found myself resonating with the content brought to life by Dr. Medhus through her son.

This book is life changing . . . .

I am not going to say much. No words I can find come close to doing it justice.

Since I lost my 21 year old son to suicide, reading this book changes everything in my life. I didn't even know what a trance medium was until after losing my son. I have had many trance sessions since then and all that this book shares is completely consistent with what I have been told of the other side of the veil and why we are here.

After reading this book, I feel like I can spiritually breathe again. It has literally started healing my heart and calming all my frustrations related to losing my son.

I wish I could thank Elisa Medhus in person for this gospel-class literary work. Van

Any additional comments?

I am a follower of the blog. I am a believer in the afterlife, and I am more open to spirituality than I ever was due to Erik's insights. Thank you Elsa for you perspective and sharing your journey with Erik as he shares so many insights. This led me to a reading with Jamie Butler and Erik. Erik helped me understand my real purpose for this lifetime. I am ever so grateful for this experience and ever so calm in my life for the first time in a long time. Thank you.
