Publisher's summary

This classic course was recorded in the mid 1980's as we neared the end of the second Christian Millennium; many prophetic voices were being raised to speak of revelation and other apocalyptic visions. Some western mystics even mentioned the future Buddha, Maitreya, in connection with a returning Christ or Christ impulse. What do the Buddhists, themselves, say about the end of the world as we know it? What is Buddhist apocalyptic? This workshop examines these questions with full rigor.

Robert Thurman discusses the prophecy by Guatama Buddha and allows us to probe into details that predict when Maitreya will come. Thurman analyzes the teachings of the future Buddha, presently a bodhisattva residing in the Tushita heaven, who will descend to earth to preach anew the dharma.

who ever edit the audio ruined the ending

at the end they cut off R. Thurman in the middle of him telling the story of Asanga, making it seem as if Asanga never achieves the vision of Maitreya, a huge mistake! please include the ending audio because to a new comer this ending is utterly misleading.

OK

I did give the book four stars, but the end, recording was messed up.
He is always interesting to listen to, so matter of fact.
My thanks to all involved, JK

Missing Parts of the Lecture

There are a few stories that are noticeably cut off too soon. Most frustratingly, the last story. I'm sure that equates to a lesson of it's own but I was disappointed not to hear this particular lesson completely from Robert. 5 stars for the lectures, 2 stars for the editing of the audio.
