Publisher's Summary

After his martyrdom at the hands of the Gestapo in 1945, Dietrich Bonhoeffer continued his witness in the hearts of Christians around the world. His became a prized testimony to Christian faith and courage, read by thousands.

Now, in Life Together, we have Pastor Bonhoeffer's experience of Christian community. This story of a unique fellowship in an underground seminary during the Nazi years reads like one of Paul's letters. It gives practical advice on how life together in Christ can be sustained in families and groups.

The role of personal prayer, worship in common, everyday work, and Christian service is treated in simple, almost biblical, words. Life Together is bread for all who are hungry for the real life of Christian fellowship.

    "Fantástico!!"

Before this review, I listened to it twice and will listen again next week. This book is packed with so much Truth and Love. I found myself convicted on a few pages. Oh if the Church could lives as described in these pages, the souls we could when for the Kingdom of God. (John 13:34-35)

"Life Together creates a desire for community"

Today many congregations have trouble worshipping together for an hour. In Life Together Bonhoeffer awakens a desire for Christian community beyond the Lord's day and a few meetings during the week. Life Together shares a desire for a full Life Together in Christ.

    "More than we practice"
What made the experience of listening to Life Together the most enjoyable?

Bonhoeffer demonstrates for me how our life together as "fellowship" and "church" is so different than the richness of what it could and can be.

    Any additional comments?

Some of the things about "Life Together" are particular to communal life, but the principles have a much broader application.

"Some great thoughts from an inspiring Christian"

Some interesting and simple thoughts by Bonhoeffer. There were some good nuggets in this short book about alien righteousness, the Psalms and how in them we find the praying Christ, and meditation. This work has really encouraged me to start again a morning devotional/time set a part for reading the word, singing, and prayer. He also had some interesting thoughts on singing and the idea of unity singing as a congregation. I fully agreed with him on the idea that our singing can turn into a work of self glorifying (my term) of sorts and that if we simply sing in unity it can be a form of corporate prayer.

I'll have to read this one again, maybe next year, to get more out of it as simple as it was. There were also some very good ideas for evening devotionals as a family.

    "Not my fav"

This book came to me through a recommendation from a friend I trust, and I had high hopes for it. The audio is choppy, missing, and read by what sounds like multiple people throughout. It's not frequent, but it is distracting and lowers the quality.

I've never read a translation of a book before, but I found the writing dry and hard to understand throughout the book. I let the book go with about an hour remaining because it began to feel like a waste of time.

"Great book. Good narration. Terrible editing."

This classic book is a must-read for many reasons. The narrator does a nice job reading the text.

But the editing of this recording is mind-numbingly bad. The written text has an introduction and 5 short chapters. However, the audiobook has only a total of 3 chapters/segments. This may seem like a small thing, but the editing decision makes it more difficult to follow the material.

Following the flow of Bonhoeffer's thought is already a difficult task. The format of this audiobook makes it nearly impossible.

The book is a classic and, in my opinion, a "must read." Buy a Kindle version to read and highlight. But save yourself the cost of this audiobook.

"Understanding how Christians should live together"

A Must Read. It's amazing in the mist of oppression during the nazi regime Bonhoeffer took the time to put together on how we should, as Christians, share fellowship. it might be a small book it is strait forward but there is so much information to unpack.

Struggled to finish; however at speed 1.55 it's doable. The voice of the reader is boring

"Great performance, Great content, technical improvement needed"

Bonhoeffer's book offers great insight on fellowship among believers. His words carry an even greater depth when one considers his life testimony. Paul Michael was an excellent narrator. However, Audible needs to work on syncing the chapters. It offers the book in three segments labeled "chapters" though the book is actually five long chapters. I still highly recommend the purchase of this book.

    "The unity of community"

The beginning of the book outlines the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. The writings are timeless and the description of unity in Christian community is outlined beautifully. How healthy community culture is created and sustained within the church through our relationship with Jesus Christ and with each other as believers in him is described well.
